In this, January 2, 1969, episode when Samantha interviews the first applicant, the dialogue is exactly the same as in the April 27, 1953 episode of I Love Lucy's " Lucy Hires A Maid " episode I Love Lucy (1951) when Lucille Ball interviews Verna Felton.
Nellie Burt, who plays Amelia, starred in an earlier episode as Larry Tate's Aunt Harriet in Tabatha's Cranky Spell (1968).
Virginia Gregg plays a society woman who tries to steal Samantha's new maid. The same actress played a similar role in an episode of "Hazel," Potluck a la Mode (1963), where she tried to steal Hazel away from the Baxter's.
At the end of the episode, Samantha uses her magic to make her maid instantly change her mind about accepting an employment offer. Introducing the ability of a witch to change people's minds raises the sticky question of why Samantha didn't use that power in many previous episodes where it would have easily solved her problems.
As per throughout the series, Samantha and her mother in law do not affectionally kiss hello. They "air kiss" each other on the side of the face, much to Samantha's chagrin.
