"Benjamin Franklin at your service"
bkoganbing9 July 2014
A truly charming episode from Bewitched is this first of a two part story where dotty old Aunt Clara drops in for a visit. She sees Elizabeth Montgomery trying to deal with a broken lamp and decides to call an electrician. But not just any electrician, Marion Lorne summons from the past the original electrician Bemjamin Franklin.

Of course Dick York's boss David White drops in and immediately thinks is an advertising gimmick for the Franklin Electronics account. After all he looks so real.

But things really come to a head when he leaves the Stevens' residence and starts wandering about town.

Fredd Wayne does a marvelous job as Benjamin Franklin whose wisdom and common sense we could sure use in the body politic today. In fact Franklin is my favorite of the Founding Fathers.

Part two is when Ben Franklin goes to trial for a moving violation. Stay tuned.

Oh, Ben!

I agree with the earlier reviewer...this ep is engaging, entertaining AND informative!

The fact that the actor was performing as Franklin in a one-man show definitely was a bonus...very believable!

Bonus that the DVD has no laugh track for this ep for some reason...one of the better shows and the first shot in color...another historical fact!

Classic Episode

One of the show's most entertaining, informative, and suspenseful out of all 258 episodes. Great writing, excellent acting and direction. It's interesting to discover that this cliff hanger episode and its second part was the first color episodes to be filmed. I assume this was the season's most challenging shoot, with the many exterior locations and the day for night shooting. The producers were wise to get these episodes shot first so as not to fall behind schedule. Mickey Rooney's son played a cameo as a beatnik who makes fun of Ben Franklin in front of the public library. Again, this episode is a classic. I'm surprised and disappointed that this episode has such a low rating on the IMDb.

When I used to watch the reruns I liked the show

Warning: Spoilers
Growing up watching reruns of Bewitched inspired me to go into marketing. However, now watching as an adult I am annoyed by the second Mrs. Kravitz. This particular episode is very annoying as I do not see why any person would get into "contraption" (e.g. Fire truck) and push buttons.
