The Green Room (#1.1)

Warning: Spoilers
This episode seems to be of lower quality than the big pilot. It is a bit ridiculous, cheesy, dramatic and with a big moral lesson.

It is also the introduction of the "bad boy" Dylan, and I really hope this is not exactly what his character always is like. Way too stereotypical to the point of ridiculous. Kind of funny to think that back in the days girls were into him. Well, we'll see how it goes.

Brandon is made as too much of a "good boy" here. To the point that I don't even understand what made him so mad in the hotel after he found out that they didn't break into this hotel room. And his editorial was kind of cheesy. Back in high school I would sure be embarrassed to have it published in my name.

Now the ones who didn't disappoint me were Steve and David again. Their story was very little but it was hilarious. I am looking forward to see more of them.

The One With The Surfing...

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoy this episode. It's not the best, but it is definitely not the worst. I do like the introduction to Dylan McKay, though.

In this episode, Brandon meets a new friend. Surfer Dylan McKay who is a mysterious loner, who lives in a fancy hotel suite, since his Dad is rich and all he does is basically hang out at the beach. He invites Brandon to go surfing with him, and Brandon takes him up on his offer. But when a girl gets drunk, goes surfing and almost drowns, Brandon must save her. Meanwhile, Brenda feels like she's poor after getting to know Kelly and Donna more. And Steve tries to befriend David after mistaking him, thinking he had a Dad who was a famous, wealthy TV show producer.

Overall, I give this episode a 6 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Good.

In the green room with Dylan

Warning: Spoilers
The episode is weaker than the pilot. The whole storyline about the surfing, alcoholism and abusive relationship triangle felt forced and cheesy. However the strongest part to me was the strong bond between Brandon and Brenda. It was nice to see them so close.

Fav scene: the funny walk in the school's hallway. I also have to say that Brandon's outfits were great in this episode.
