I do think I have certain traits that aren't too bad: friends love my sense of humor and intellect, I'm quite personable and approachable. But I just never had that quality of desire where women would stay up at night thinking about me. I always envied those who had that kind of charismatic quality that made women captivated by them. My traits are more favorable in that the opposite sex enjoy talking to me and being around me but that was always where it ended. Let's face it: surface attractiveness often does account for a lot. Still I write all of that without not discounting what I'm fortunate to have; friends. But I envy those who have had great sex with great looking people. But I also realize that there are those who have the looks and those of us who are either average at best (not necessarily according to anything other than what is considered hot in the VANITY HANDBOOK) or considered not as aesthetically blessed with the best DNA. I like what someone wrote one time, though. There will be a lot of folks later in life who totally relied on looks to get places left years down the road once those looks fade wondering what next to do with their life.
Tigh goes and does it, while Adama ("The Old Man") lies recovering from an extreme, near-death surgery where the need arises to stop hemorrhaging blood, declaring martial law in order to cull a political resistance as the Colonial leaders meet with Roslin, preparing to assure her mission of receiving the Arrow and using it on Kobol succeeds. Tigh's temper is quite transparent and trying while his heavy drinking, attempting to hide it during little excursions away from his duties when he can get a moment or two, begins to reveal the hardships of "acting" command. Tigh just wants Adama to recover and take back control, losing his grip on escalating tensions, as the officers onboard try to conceal their concern and keep focus on operations. Meanwhile on Kobol (no trips to Caprica City in this episode), Crashdown's plan to take out a "dradis dish" that would cause a rescue mission led by Apollo to be jeopardized is underway, although his methods at managing those on his remaining team (Cally and medical officer, Seelix (Jen Halley), aren't particularly well-prepared for combat on-ground, while Gaius Baltar certainly doesn't consider himself a soldier) remains suspect because it would require an all-out suicidal attack on seven Cylons, seemingly an unreasonable request. Baltar using a weapon and moving into a combat situation has him often in discussion with Telfar when they are off to themselves (if that is how you want to describe it!)...he's very vocal about how he doesn't support taking on the Cylons, while Tyrol accesses that protocol dictates Crashdown's command shouldn't be resisted even though he has also been critical in regards to some of his orders. When Cally won't move out of hysterical fear and the inability to do as Crashdown commands he holds a gun on her, demanding she do as ordered...and Baltar fires upon him in the back, killing him! The mission nonetheless is somewhat still successful as the Cylons targets them after hearing Baltar shoot Crashdown, with Gaius and Tyrol forced into heading for the dish in order to destroy it so that the rescue mission can be completed without fail. Tigh's wife discovers that Roslin (in withdrawal when her chamalla extract isn't provided as she is imprisoned) has been reduced to a hallucinating addict in need of her medication in order to function due to her cancer...thanks to Billy who requests the extract as part of the religious aspects of their belief system from her prison security guard (and believer in the 12 gods of Kobol), Roslin is able to recover in time before the Colonial politico visit her in her cell. Meanwhile Telfar indicates to Baltar that their God won't acknowledge anything or anyone on Kobol as they believe in gods...this, I imagine, could be a bit of a nag for some viewers who really like the realism surrounding the story arc complete but aren't as keen on the use of religion throughout in conversation and behavioral action. Apollo realizing Tigh's frustrations and attitude derive from the complications of command and slightly, subtly provoking him amused me to no end...a stick in the mud he often can be, Tigh can be a bit of a pill. The martial law declaration is certain to include plenty more conflicts along the way.
