Not aged well
keyope9 May 2019
I remember liking this episode when I watched it as a kid and again when I was older. However, having just revisited it, it is somewhat of a filler episode. It has potential. Starbuck sees an old flame, there's conflict because she has a new man. There's also some good political intrigue, but the episode stalls and feels out of place because it's mostly based around some characters that were never in the show before and will never be seen again after this episode. On paper it's a good episode and it has its moments, but it definite filler.

Keeps the viewer attention!
mm-396 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Take the Celestra keeps the viewer attention! Take the Celestra has an old famous captain who lost control of the Celestra. Like a 70's style mystery, Apollo and Starbuck (Starbuck chasing an old flame of course) stumble in on a munity and quash the insurgence. Starbuck learns what really happened with the second in command; the evil second in command's evil plans to strand the colonial warrior, the old commander and prisoners creates a climax which keeps the viewers attention. Not the big special effects, or huge budget, but watchable. Space shows are kids show, but with the characters keep the episode golden; Take the Celestra on second watching is still great after all the years which passed by after watching the series as a child. 7 stars.

Stumbling down the stretch
Fluke_Skywalker25 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Plot; Starbuck and Apollo thwart an attempted mutiny aboard a fleet ship only to reveal a deeper and more sinister plot.

The penultimate episode of the original BSG, "Take the Celestra" (Which surprisingly is not about the ship's doctor treating Adama for fecal incontinence) has a stripped down feel that reflects the famously expensive series' attempts to scale back costs as ratings tumbled. The result is an episode with less action than an 80 year old couple's bedroom. After a brief moment center stage in the previous episode, Apollo is once again forced to play Robin to Starbuck's Batman, but even that isn't enough to squeeze any life out of this story.

Oh my God the shows ending and this is the reason why
kristinannbritton22 August 2023
Not to be required, an extent of maybe possibly the second to last show, there are characters who will be not so long remembered, but possibly the execution of valor is necessary here to be seen from above the great terror, the great Earth never to be encountered, and yet hope for for whom the Bell tolls it tolls for thee was certainly they will not be more episodes, but one can only hope there would have been but somehow somewhere someone got tired and this is what happened. Or to put it plainly this is why it only lasted one season because of riding like the first 90% of this review. I wish the show had lasted if nothing else than to look at Maren Jensen. Whatever happened to her.
