Probably the best episode of the sequel series
lareval22 August 2021
A thrilling, tragic entry in this series. While this new adventures can't quite match the sheer of brilliance of its predecessor, this outing deserves to be ranked among the best of the best. An unforgettable classic outing!

Things Fall Apart

Warning: Spoilers
Batgirl's dead, Gordon's storming the Batcave and our heroes are on the run. No matter what narrative gimmick's involved (and you know there is one, this is a kids show), that's a ballsy way to open your story. Still, it's a dark tale and the image of Barbara falling to her death is a shocking one.

But so often these "what-if"s are boiled down to explaining it all away in a dream, ,and that's where 'Over the Edge' has the . . . well, edge. It's all stemming from Barbara's anxieties over keeping her hero life a secret from Dad. And it makes for a touching final scene.

What could've just been a stunt turns out to be a great character piece.

Walking A Fine Line

Warning: Spoilers
"You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." More than a decade before that lesson was taught in 2008's "The Dark Knight," Batman was learning that lesson the hard way in this bone-chilling episode. Finally, James Gordon becomes so desperate to take out Batman for good, he strikes a Faustian pact with Bane to destroy Batman mentally and physically. Bane double-crosses Gordon, insisting that this fight must be to the death.

Diamond in the rough

Warning: Spoilers
Whoa what an impressive first 5 mins. Opens with Batman and Robin being shot at and... Gordon and GCPD are the ones firing??! In the Batcave?? And now a manhunt for the Bat Family? Yes please. This is easily a more in interesting episode than the previous "The Ultimate Thrill" which in my opinion was one of the weakest of TNBA episodes. TNBA is inferior to TAS in almost every way but you can find a good one here and there. Would've given this episode a 10 but I don't think anything deserves a 10 unless it's "Robin's Reckoning".
