Like clockwork, Ra's al Ghul is on another quest for power, as usual dragging Batman away from Gotham. None of this is a criticism, it's just what the guy does. But 'Avatar' adds a distinctly "Raiders of the Lost Ark" flavor, not just with the overseas flying graphics but also the archaeological expedition.
It's a solid episode, once again teasing the forbidden romance between Bruce and Thalia; and David Warner really punches up the malice in his voice. Honestly, Ra's wouldn't be half as fascinating with lesser casting. And there's some beautiful animation here, if inconsistent. All in all not a bad return of one of Batman's otherworldly villains.
7/10
