I really enjoyed this episode, though I have to admit that without ever having made it, the overall plot that unified the show wouldn't have been impacted in the least. So, it's really a filler episode but also, fortunately, it's a really, really GOOD filler episode--mostly because it was funny and easy to like.
There are two main plots--both of which have humorous elements. First, you see and hear about "technomages" for the first time. They are apparently people who have merged science and magic and have a rather mystical and all-powerful reputation. They stop by B-5, but have no intention of staying--they are leaving the known worlds and heading out before the upcoming Shadow Wars. They DON'T want to be bothered and Londo irritates their leader to no end by pestering him in order to either learn some of their secrets, forming an alliance or at least making it appear as if they like him--which they certainly do NOT! All Londo's attempts are really pretty funny--as well as Vir's intercessions on Londo's behalf.
The other plot involves an insane battle going on across space as well as on B-5 involving JUST the Drazi. It seems that every five years, they randomly pick sides and beat the crap out of each other. Why isn't apparent to anyone--it's just a pointless, violent and deadly tradition that they MUST adhere to. Ivanova is given the unenviable task of understanding and stopping the violence. It's actually pretty tragic and funny at the same time and her solution to the mess is hilarious! For a nice change of pace and a good laugh, give this one a try.
