After Dr. Franklin scans the organic artifact, a monitor shows it contains "Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Xanthan, Maltodextrin, Okudazin". The first three are Vitamin B1, B2, and B3, Xanthan and Maltodextrin are food additives (thickening agents), and Okudazin is a nod to Michael Okuda, technical consultant and scenic art supervisor for the Star Trek franchise, who used to include similar references to other science fiction series in his view-screens.
When Franklin is briefing Sinclair on what he found out from the data devices, he says that the Ikarrans were invaded seven times. According to Babylon 5 canon, the invaders were the Shadows.
The Ikarran devices are described as organic technology. In the Babylon 5 universe, each planet or species is rated according to the level of their technology. From lowest to highest the levels are: Pre-Sentient Age; Primitive Age; Archaic Age; Industrial Age; Atomic Age; Information Age; Stellar Age; Galactic Age; Gravitic Age; Organic Age; Ultratech; Ascendant.
This takes place on March 8, 2258.
Dr Franklin finds a device in Nelson's bag that he identifies as a "cardiac stimulator" which is in fact quite clearly a 20th century stun gun.
