Andromeda is invited to join the 'Consensus of Parts'
Tweekums12 May 2018
As Andromeda passes through a debris field something strange happens; some of the debris forces itself into Andromeda then coalesces to form an android. It appears to be friendly and tells the crew that it is HG, part of the 'Consensus of Parts'. The 'Consensus of Parts' was considered to be a myth; a being made up of various mechanical parts in uncharted space... it would appear that it is real. HG links with Rommie to guide them to the 'Directing Intelligence'; this, as its name suggests, appears to be the intelligence that guides the Consensus. Here they are met by VX a far less friendly android who invites Andromeda to join the consensus. They are also learn that HG is now expected to break down to his constituent part as his mission is over... in effect he is expected to die.

This episode had a good central premise and much like the Consensus it was good in parts. It was also rather corny in others. I liked the idea of an artificial consciousness made of various parts. HG was a fun character, Matt Smith (not the 'Doctor Who' Matt Smith) does a fine job in the role. VX was suitably menacing from the moment he is introduced; I liked how he was only really interesting in Andromeda, not her organic crew. There is some good action although it seems strange that Andromeda is outgunned by just about every threat they meet despite being such a powerful ship! At least here we are given a plausible reason for her to be weakened. Overall I'd say this episode was enjoyable if not one of the best.
