In the opening scene Andromeda's crew board a ship that had reportedly been attacked by pirates. On board they discover the royal family of a planet who were attempting to escape a coup by the planet's barons. The sole survivors are the third prince and the king; and the latter only survives long enough to ask Dylan and Tyr to act as his son's co-regents till he can be formally crowned. Not surprisingly each of them takes on this duty in a different way; Dylan tries to teach him the importance of diplomacy and negotiation while Tyr concentrates on martial arts and how to deceive ones enemies. As they take him home Andromeda is confronted by forces loyal to the barons; Tyr opens up secret negotiations; is he planning to use them or betray them?
This was a decent episode; it opens with an exciting gunfight aboard the ship the royal family is trying to escape on and ends with more action as Rommie gives an impressive demonstration of her power by deploying two battle-robots that resemble the ED-209s that featured in the original 'RoboCop'... a pretty cool idea, just a pity the CGI wasn't the best. The story seems to have been loosely inspired by King John's problems with his barons although the execution is rather different. It is an effective story and gave us another chance to see how Tyr and Dylan do things rather differently; Keith Hamilton Cobb was on top form as Tyr; he manages to make the character likeable even when he is at his most devious! Kevin Sorbo is solid as Dylan but playing a character who always seems to do the right thing gives him less to work with. Guest star Steven Grayhm is good enough as the prince, especially in the scene where Tyr goads him into attacking him as part of his training. Overall this may not have been one of the best episodes but it still had plenty of really good moments and was solid overall.
