Three stories in one
Tweekums30 May 2018
This episode sees Rommie going on a secret mission to retrieve information about a deadly new weapon system. To do this she meets Philip Kim, a scientist who doesn't approve of his world's actions. The authorities are determined to stop them escaping and during a shootout Kim learns that Rommie is an AI and is concerned as his planet fought a war against their own AIs. Meanwhile Tyr, Harper and Rev Bem are waiting on the Eureka Maru to pick them up; unfortunately they are found and attacked; they land in the ocean and soon start sinking; unfortunately Harper, the only person who can fix the ship, is incapacitated leaving Rev Bem to come up with a radical possible solution; it seems unlikely that they will all survive. Elsewhere Dylan has taken Andromeda to intercept the weapon system before it can attack another planet; in doing so they make a shocking discovery.

While everything that happens in this episode is connected to a single story it can looked on as three separate adventures once it gets started; this turns out to be highly effective as each story has its own jeopardies which are very different. Rommie's story provides most of the action as she engages in fights and shootouts while trying to carry out her mission; Lexa Doig is on great form and guest stars Bruce Harwood and Roger Cross are solid as Kim and antagonist Agent Carter. The part of the story on the Maru is almost as interesting and the threat is very different. There some fine scenes between Tyr and Rev Bem as they debate what they should do. The action back on Andromeda is perhaps a little less exciting but it is still pretty good and there is a nice surprise when we learn where the secret technology originated. Overall a fine episode with some impressive and varied action.
