Warning: Spoilers
The pilot stopped when JFK is murdered in Dallas Texas. This one picks up very well in the aftermath. People are shown crying and in a daze. This episode picks up very well on how much people were influenced by the television news coverage of the tragedy in Dallas.

Ironically, Meg is getting a chance to live her dream at the same time being asked to be a regular on American Bandstand. This gives her trouble as her best girl friend is not asked to be on the show. In order to keep her girlfriend, she threatens to quit.

The best touch to this episode is Meg's youngest brother asking everyone why JFK was killed? Amazingly, they come up with the right answer. One word - "Politics" is that answer. No answer for the killing comes closer than that. There is no other explanation except he was killed because someone disagreed with his political views. This concept is very well explained in this episode.

While this answer makes Meg's brother ready to move on, a lot of adults are still grappling with the issue at the end of the show.
