I like the conflict with Stan and Francine
celiawatsonanime17 February 2022
His stress and, feeling horrible because his wife now makes more money than he does at the CIA. Francine is selling houses and having so much fun.

Stan is a real jerk for ruining her fun but, almost feel bad for him at the same time.

The Emasculation of Stan Smith
injury-654472 June 2020
In this second episode we get to know more about the views of Stan Smith when it comes to women and gays and the homeless etc

All in all he is painted as a completely ignorant and despicable and bigoted misogynist. An interesting choice for a main character. The humour rests in us making fun of Stan for his buffoonery rather than identifying with his views. You have to wonder why Francine sees anything in Stan, but she is painted as an airhead who is probably too stupid to know she is being mistreated.

This isn't a show that inspires You to look to these characters as role models, but to revel in how despicable and disgusting they all are - I can understand why some people wouldn't find humour in this.

Had a few little laughs but nothing really stands out here as being that great this episode.

Quite Funny!
g-bodyl10 September 2013
The second episode in the American Dad series, "Threat Levels" is a pretty funny and rambunctious episode. It doesn't reach the level of brilliance of the first episode, but it still has some of that delightful, colorful language that symbolizes this series. There is some minor characterization here especially on the role of Steve.

This episode has Stan being mad that his wife is making more money than him as a real estate agent so he decides to use homeless people as wrestlers for a grand scheme.

Overall, this is a solid, funny episode and I laughed quite a few times. This show has extreme potential and I can't wait to see what future episodes bring. I rate this episode 9/10.

The One With The Virus Scare...
taylorkingston21 April 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Newspaper Headline: Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads I think this episode is so funny. In it, Stan accidentally brings home a thermos with contaminated with a deadly virus. The CIA puts the family on quarantine. Since they're supposed to die within a day, they decide to spend it watching the first season of 24. Roger plans to redecorate the house once they are gone. It's really funny when he starts bringing in paint samples, saying he's gonna need something bright after getting over all this sad. As it turns out, the virus wasn't active. The virus scare makes a lot of their neighbors sell their homes, and when Francine meets a real estate agent she decides to become one. Stan is ashamed when Francine starts making more money than he does. He then has her boss arrested and her agency shut down. But his plan doesn't work out very well because Francine just goes into business for herself. She even hired Roger to be her assistant. Haley uses one of her mother's houses to set up a shelter for the homeless. But Steve wanted to use the house for a Girls Gone Wild knockoff, but since he can't, he and his friends start a bum fighting business. When Stan learns of this he sees an opportunity to make more money than Francine and hustles Steve and his friends out the business. This makes Haley and Steve very upset so to break Stan, Haley unionizes the bums, who go on strike. This leaves Stan with no fighters. He is then tricked into fighting a man, who is so bad that he "killed his own name". It turns out that, that bum as just an actor. Stan eventually comes to terms with Francine making more money than him and wishes her well. But Francine's real estate agency goes out of business due to interest rates, which turns out that Stan had forced the man to raise after kidnapping his dog. Overall 9 out of 10. Roger is especially funny.
