Not if I see you first, love

Warning: Spoilers
With inside help from Lauren, Sark not only escapes from French custody before they turn him over to the CIA but he also organizes the kidnapping of Dixon's children. In exchange for their safe return, the Covenant demands the immediate release of some of its recently captured operatives, but what they really want is a Rambaldi artifact that is kept in Kendall's Nevada facility. After an initial rescue attempt fails, Dixon has no choice but to steal the artifact and hand it over to the Covenant, but he can't do it alone - he needs Sydney's help. Her response: "Whatever you need". The Dixon-Sydney relationship is one of the longest-standing on this show, and for all its ups and downs, it's full of respect, support and compassion. "Taken" mirrors the season 2 episode "Second Double" when Lauren, to avoid exposure as a double agent, frames another person for the leaks, just like Allison had done. In this case, the "victim" is Sloane (so whatever his endgame might be, it looks like it has little to do with the Covenant). Carl Lumbly gives another powerful performance, and we also get to see Sydney as Mad Maxine! *** out of 4.

Sloane gets framed

Warning: Spoilers
In the previous episode Sark was captured and after a rather speedy extradition he is on his way back to the United States... it looks like things are going well for the CIA, until Dixon's children are abducted and Sark's plane lands in the desert after an accomplice of his has killed everybody on board before parachuting out with Sark. It is obvious that somebody inside the CIA has helped him and Lauren has arranged for the finger to point firmly at Arvin Sloane knowing that Dixon will believe he is guilty even though he'd be more careful to cover his tracks. Things get even worse when they track the children to a building in Arizona only to find that it was a trap and the building is booby trapped. The Covenant has made a demand for the release of various prisoners but we soon learn they never expected this demand to be met it was just a distraction so that Dixon and Sydney could acquire a Rambaldi artefact from a CIA facility.

As one would expect from Alias this episode was packed with twists and turns as well as explosions and a dramatic infiltration. Carl Lumbly did a good job as Dixon, he showed real emotion when his character's children were abducted. The action scenes were well executed as always; the makers do a great job making the unbelievable believable.
