Warning: Spoilers
Sydney is captured by Sloane's men and prepared for torture. Thinking and acting quickly, her father Jack finds a way to save her: he fixes the second, unauthorized transmission that SD-6 picked up from Geneva to make it appear as if the person responsible for it was Sydney's partner in that mission, Russek. Sloane falls into the trap, and believing Russek to be a double agent, he has him assassinated. Sydney is cleared (for the moment?), and gets her new mission: to discover the new identity of Ineni Hassan, a man who sells arms to terrorists, and whom SD-6 wants dead and the CIA wants alive so that he can give a list of his clients.

Well, it took them 10 episodes, but it's finally here, and not a moment too soon: Sydney in a bikini! Her fighting is getting even better as well; one think I like about "Alias"'s fight scenes is that there is no exaggerated posing or showing off - just quick, practical moves to get the opponent knocked out before he (or she) knows what hit him (or her). Besides all that, this is one of the darkest episodes so far: much like "Doppelganger", it explores the grey areas of espionage, as Jack sacrifices another man's life to save his daughter, even though, in his defense, that man was one of the SD-6 employees who knew exactly who they were working for and went along with it. *** out of 4.

Russek gets sacrificed

Warning: Spoilers
After being captured by SD-6 things aren't looking good for Sydney but Jack has a plan; he will make it look as though Russek, her partner on her previous mission, was the one responsible for the transmission Mitchell detected... of course this does mean that he will be tortured to death. Freed from suspicion Sydney is sent to a luxury resort in Kenya to gain information about arms dealer Ineni Hassan. She discovers that he has had plastic surgery but tells SD-6 that she couldn't find out anything; it turns out that they have already discovered his whereabouts and have dispatched Jack to Cuba to kill him. Away from Sydney's missions Will has been given a tape recording of Eloise Kurtz murder and after it has been cleaned up he hears a voice asking "Did you tell him about SD-6?" Will has no idea what SD-6 is but his only clue leads him to a jailed man who would clearly prefer to rot in prison than talk about SD-6.

This episode was fairly dark at times; it showed that Jack was quite willing to let somebody be tortured to death to save his daughter; although we later learn that Russek was fully aware of what SD-6 was... presumably having Jack kill an innocent would have been a step too far! Sydney's mission was fairly routine although it did give Jenifer Garner a chance to show off her assets in a bikini and have a fight while not wearing much more! Will's subplot continues to intrigue; it can only be a matter of time before SD-6 decides he is digging too deeply. Once again there is a cracking cliff hanger at the end that leads me to look forward to the next episode.
