Blue Skies Again

Warning: Spoilers
Sydney is captured and tortured by the head of the Romanian mental asylum, who is also an agent of K-Directorate. He wants her to reveal any information she might have gotten from the brainwashed hit-man who is also an inmate of the same asylum. Sydney gradually gains the hit-man's trust and together they manage to escape. However, she is about to learn a shocking secret about the death of her fiancé. The scene where that secret is revealed, in a series of fragmented shots, is one of the best moments of the show so far. In the role of the brainwashed, color-blind hit-man, who is more an unwilling victim than a force of evil, John Hannah gives a compelling performance. And Sydney really kicks ass in this one - she has 3 fight scenes in extra confined space, and uses her elbows very effectively. *** out of 4.

A strong episode of the first season
DVD_Connoisseur15 September 2007
"Color Blind" is a gripping installment from the first season with Sydney trapped in a Bucharest asylum that resembles a set from "Hostel". There's a sense of hopelessness as time and time again, Bristow's hopes for escape are extinguished. Has Sydney finally met her end at the hands of the evil K-Directorate?

John Hannah appears as Martin Shepard, a man whose fate is closely linked with that of Sydney herself. Hannah, not surprisingly, delivers a thoroughly top-notch performance.

Superb television - stylish, thrilling, scary and dramatic...this is excellent entertainment.

Sydney meets Danny's killer
Tweekums27 February 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Things looked bad at the end of the last episode with Sydney trapped in a Romanian psychiatric hospital; they quickly get worse for her as she is captured and tortured by K-Directorate operatives. She only survives because she knows how to get the information sought by both K-Directorate and SD-6 from Martin Sheppard. She agrees to get the information in exchange for her life but escapes with Martin and learns something truly shocking: he was the man who killed Danny! Talking of Danny's murder Will's investigation takes a surprise turn when Eloise Kurtz turns up dead.

This was another very tense episode; even though one knows that Sydney is bound to be okay in the end things looked bad for her for quite a while. Jenifer Garner and John Hannah both put in excellent performances; especially in the scene where it is revealed to both of them that he killed Danny. It wasn't just emotional scenes of course there was some great action too when they are in the hospital. There were also a couple of great scenes between Victor Garber and Michael Vartan; it is clear that Jack isn't very impressed by Vaughn! As is often the case there were also hints of things to come; Marshall's discovery of the hack has led Sloane to realise there is a mole in SD-6 and he will no doubt keep looking until he has found somebody.
