"Alfred Hitchcock Presents" A Little Sleep (TV Episode 1957) Poster

Alfred Hitchcock: Self - Host

Quotes

  • [introduction]

Alfred Hitchcock : [Hitchcock is standing upside down in his customary suit wearing earmuffs]  Good evening. This is Alfred Hitchcock speaking to you from the bottom of the world. I mention this so that if snow should appear on your screen, you won't waste time adjusting your set. Ah.

[a St. Bernard with a barrel around its neck walks up to Hitchcock]

Alfred Hitchcock : Man's best friend. And a dog, too. Even though I have all the comforts of home, I'm afraid it is time for our play, and I wouldn't want everyone to watch this standing on his head.

[snaps fingers; suddenly he's right side up and the dog is gone]

Alfred Hitchcock : Well, we seem to have lost the dog, but it's nice to feel the blood rushing to my feet again. Ladies and gentlemen, here, proper side up, is our story, "A Little Sleep."

  • [afterword]

Alfred Hitchcock : And he did, too. Naturally, Benny was properly punished as is always the case on this program. Next time we shall be back again with more crime and punishment.

[Hitchcock puts up his fore and middle fingers together in the Latin "Peace be with you" salutation like a priest]

    Alfred Hitchcock : Pax vobiscum.
