A two-part clip show *already*?

Warning: Spoilers
How is it possible that after only 15 episodes we get a clip show, and a two-parter, at that? Were this a truly genius American sitcom like Arrested Development, 15 episodes would contain more than enough pure gold for a clip show, but ALF is only a decent '80s sitcom. There's no defense in arguing that this was made in the 1980s - they did some very good TV shows at that time also, even if it wasn't "The Golden Age of TV" like the first decade of the new millennium: Red Dwarf started only a year after ALF and Quantum Leap another year later, Monty Python's Flying Circus was made over a decade *earlier*, as was Fawlty Towers (by some of the same people, not surprisingly) and Blackadder was on until 1989. Hmm... the better comedies were all British - positively shocking.
