No B-Team

Warning: Spoilers
Plot; An emergency stop in a small town to get medical help for a wounded B.A. gets the A-Team in hot water with the local sheriff. But with an outlaw biker gang on their way to town to bust their leader out of jail, the sheriff has no choice but to team up with the boys and dig in for a standoff.

A childhood favorite, but one I haven't revisited in nearly a decade. Shame on me, because I was reminded what a fun series this is, with or without nostalgia. Like so many such 80s shows, it's straight formula and demands absolute nothing from you, and what's wrong with that? The cast really make it though, especially Dwight Schultz as Murdoch. Sure Peppard was the lead and Mr. T the breakout star, but it's Schultz as "Howling Mad" Murdoch that steals absolutely every scene and gives a tour de force performance.

Entertaining western tribute

Warning: Spoilers
BLACK DAY AT BAD ROCK is a highly enjoyable episode of THE A-TEAM that riffs on the westerns of old, with a plot that seems to liberally borrow from RIO BRAVO. This one sees B.A. wounded and out of the action for the most part, leaving the other members of the team to take centre stage. The action soon shifts to a whole load of shenanigans involving Sid Haig and his motorbike gang, and the climax is a siege scenario which is huge fun. Watch out for regular movie tough guy Ed Lauter, always a welcome presence on screen.

Another winner

Starts with BA being injured due to a mishap during a mission, and is taken to doc in a hick town, and from there it's fun and games - and plenty of humour. BA isn't too happy to know that the blood transfused into him belongs to Murdoch and he is afraid that he'll be as nutty as a fruitcake.

The villains are the bikers and they get the A-Team treatment at the finale. There's plenty to enjoy here, an Assault on Precinct 13th type of story, and the humour.

Black Day at Bad Rock

Assault on Precinct 13. The A Team style.

A mission gone wrong leaves BA injured and he has a rare blood type. Only Murdoch is a match so he needs to escape from his hospital and make his way to Bad Rock.

Unfortunately the doctor treating BA rings the Sheriff. Hannibal and Face are arrested.

The jail already has Sonny Jenko jailed, a bad boy biker. His gang are on the way to Bad Rock to bust him out.

When Hannibal and Face escape, they realise that they cannot leave the Sheriff and the town at the mercy of Jenko's gang.

You see The A Team using their improvisation skills here. They set up a decoy Sheriff's office to fool the bikers. The finale has some comedy with Murdoch and muscular bike action. The stuntmen were certainly kept busy.

The episode features cult character actors Ed Lauter as the Sheriff and Sid Haig as Jenko.
