Martha Logan : Sir, if President Suvarov is killed, if the Russians find out we supplied this information, it will be considered an act of war
President Charles Logan : The Russian motorcade has a significant security force, I see no reason to believe that the terrorists would even be successful: maybe we should have an analysis done to determine the vulnerable "points" along the route?
Mike Novick : Sir, we can't do that without giving away we had advance knowledge of the attack
Martha Logan : [Just entering the room and overhearing their conversation] what attack?
President Charles Logan : [Surprised to see her] it's nothing you need to be concerned about
Martha Logan : [Sternly to Charles] you invited me into this circle: what attack?
President Charles Logan : The terrorists want the Suvarov motorcade route. They've threatened to deploy more Sentox gas if I didn't give it to them
Martha Logan : You're not seriously considering it are you?
Mike Novick : [to Martha, while Charles remains silent] Charles believes an assault on the Suvarov has a good chance...
Martha Logan : [Interrupts him, annoyed] will you please let the President speak for himself? May we have a moment?
President Charles Logan : [after Mike leaves the room] please, if I don't give them the information they want, tens of thousands of Americans will die on our own soil: maybe hundreds of thousands and I will be responsible
Martha Logan : Alright, there's got to be another way, change their itinerary, and delay Suvarov from leaving
President Charles Logan : It's all over the news, the Russians are leaving after we make the joint statement. If there's any deviation from that, the terrorists will know that I've alerted them
Martha Logan : [Covering her face with her hands] what're you saying? What're you telling me? That we are going to stand in front of the entire world with the Suvarovs, you're going to look at him in the eye, shake his hand, knowing your sending them to their deaths?
President Charles Logan : If we were in Russia, and Suvarov got this ultimatum, do you think he would spare us?
Martha Logan : [Raising her voice] I'm not talking about Russia, I'm not talking about the Suvarovs, and I'm talking about you: the President of the United States, you're talking about murder
President Charles Logan : My back is against the wall. Give me another solution?
Martha Logan : [Yells] stand up to them, refuse to negotiate with them, is that the policy of this country? Isn't that the point of the treaty you just signed?
President Charles Logan : It's not that simple: it never is
