James Morrison: Bill Buchanan
Quotes
-
Michelle Dessler : What did LAPD say?
Bill Buchanan : They're keeping certain units in reserve...
Michelle Dessler : [Interrupts him] but they're sending more patrol men to help Jack right?
Bill Buchanan : They're sending nine over there now and they're going to try to pull another twelve from the...
Michelle Dessler : [Interrupts him] nine? That's not nearly enough: we'll have to reassign our people. Send them over there now
Bill Buchanan : I've taken care of it
Michelle Dessler : [Sternly] when? We need people there now, this woman has to be captured
Bill Buchanan : Everyone understands what's at stake here. We're going to do our best to find this woman but we have to remain calm or everything will spiral out of control
Michelle Dessler : Your right, I'm not being objective. I'll admit it, I'm worried about what this woman will do to Tony but I will not lose sight of the "big picture"
Bill Buchanan : The "big picture" is we have to apprehend this hostile: alive, nothing else matters
-
Tony Almeida : [Over the speakerphone] what've you got?
Bill Buchanan : The second satellite pass is complete: we were unable to detect the missile with thermal imaging, there's just too much radiant heat from ground sources
David Palmer : This is President Palmer, is there a chance another satellite pass will find the missile?
Bill Buchanan : The more data we have Mr. President, the better but a more intensive pass will take two to three hours
David Palmer : And we expect the missile to find its target before then?
Bill Buchanan : Yes Sir, we do
David Palmer : Alright make sure FBI is on a real time link with all local emergency channels
Bill Buchanan : Yes Sir, I'll get that done right now
David Palmer : I also want you to compile disaster scenarios for the urban centers within range of the missile
Bill Buchanan : Sir, that's twenty of the largest cities in this country
David Palmer : I'm aware of that. I want death rates, fallout patterns, and emergency response predictions for all of them
Bill Buchanan : Yes Sir, I'll take care of that right now
-
Bill Buchanan : [after he enters her office] where are we on the search of the apartment complex?
Michelle Dessler : Nothing so far
Bill Buchanan : LAPD there yet?
Michelle Dessler : They're on their way
Bill Buchanan : I'll be in COMM
Michelle Dessler : I can't do this
Bill Buchanan : Can't do what?
Michelle Dessler : I can't sacrifice the lives of all those people if this warhead goes off: she called me
Bill Buchanan : Who? Who called you?
Michelle Dessler : The hostile who has Tony
Bill Buchanan : When? What did she say?
Michelle Dessler : Couple minutes ago: she said to redeploy our men so she can get away or Tony dies
-
Howard Bern : [Over the phone] I got a message to call you when I landed in San Diego
Bill Buchanan : Are we on a secure line?
Howard Bern : Yes sir, it's an encrypted cell
Bill Buchanan : The Chinese are continuing to press the case that we were involved in the assault on their Consulate
Howard Bern : Have they managed to find evidence beyond the surveillance video of me?
Bill Buchanan : No, and we have to make sure they don't. I want you to start fabricating an alibi with CTU and San Diego, I want you to make it look like you were working there during the assault
Howard Bern : My transport's arriving right now, I'll get right on it
Bill Buchanan : The alibi has to withstand careful scrutiny: San Diego phone logs, roasters, and mainframe records all have to back it up
Howard Bern : It'll be air tight sir
Bill Buchanan : It has to be
Howard Bern : Sir, about my family: any chance the Chinese will try to get to them?
Bill Buchanan : They can't. We've already contacted your wife moved her and your kids to a hotel for the time being, I'll be in touch
Howard Bern : Thank you very much sir
-
Bill Buchanan : [after sitting down next to her] I can't even imagine what you must be feeling, I know part of you is second guessing your decision but you couldn't place Tony's life over potentially over millions of people. You made the exact kind of decision Tony would've wanted you to make, that's our job, it's why we signed on
Michelle Dessler : [Nods] we decided we were going to leave "this." Go somewhere and start again
Bill Buchanan : Michelle...
Michelle Dessler : I want to get back to work, we still have to find this missile
Bill Buchanan : No, I want you to go home
Michelle Dessler : I'll be ok
Bill Buchanan : That's not advice: that's an order
-
Mike Novick : [Over a speakerphone] we're all here: go ahead
Bill Buchanan : I'm afraid Marwan's associate, the woman we hoped would help us locate the missile, has killed herself and one of our agents
President Charles Logan : Oh my God
David Palmer : Did she leave behind any physical evidence that could help us?
Bill Buchanan : It doesn't appear so
President Charles Logan : So what is CTU going to do now to find the missile?
Bill Buchanan : Mr. President, at this point, CTU no longer has any reasonable expectation of finding the missile before it reaches its target
President Charles Logan : This is it: it's going to happen. What do we do?
David Palmer : At this point, we have no choice but to alert all state and federal agencies and focusing all of our resources on managing the aftermath
President Charles Logan : [to David] but we don't even know the missile's target
David Palmer : No, we can "assume" it will be a major city but no matter what the target is, there will be wide spread panic across this country: we need to mobilize the Army and the National Guard in every state and draw a declaration of Martial law
President Charles Logan : Yes, we need to do that
Mike Novick : Bill, all federal agencies need to prepare for the aftermath of a nuclear attack. CTU's priority should be "disaster management." Redeploy your people now
Bill Buchanan : [Before hanging up] understood
