The "dead" Gan is clearly still breathing.
The crew of the Liberator climb down the same ladder in the Central Control computer complex at least two and possibly three times.
The ladder (and camera angle) is the same in two shots but more noticeably the white wall behind the ladder has identical markings/features.
(It is likely that the same ladder is also used in the 'red light' shot as the ladder and angle are the same).

Avon cuts the high intensity radiation grid and the cut ends are next to each other. A few seconds later, just before the grid repairs itself, the ends are about 6 inches apart.
Avon estimates the high intensity radiation grid takes about 8 seconds to self-repair after being cut. He calculates this by observing how long it takes two adjacent cut pieces of the grid to reconnect.
Later he tells the others that after blasting a path through the grid they have 8 seconds to cross before it is repaired.
However, cutting and blasting are two different things. With a cut, the ends are closer together and have neat edges, whereas blasting could potentially destroy entire sections of the grid (if not all) leaving much more extensive damage.
So Avon's estimate has no basis for supporting it.

After the strontium grenade explodes Gan unnecessarily holds the closing door open despite them all having plenty of time to get through.
Blake assumes Gan is dead (and not just unconscious) after making no significant checks for signs of life.
Also he just leaves him where he lies and does not attempt to transport him back to the ship for possible life-saving surgery or 'burial'.
