Todd Stashwick is boldly going from Starfleet to the Marvel TV universe.

The Star Trek: Picard alum has joined the cast of Disney+’s upcoming Vision series, with Paul Bettany reprising his WandaVision role as the android superhero, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Stashwick will reportedly play “an assassin who is on the trail of the android and the technology he possesses.”

This marks Driver’s return to FX, where she starred in The Riches, for which she received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

Inspired by the UK series, Peep Show follows the relationship between a long-suffering assistant (Jahava) and her boss (Driver), an emotionally unstable tech entrepreneur.

Minnie Driver and Amandla Jahava are set to play the lead roles in FX’s “Peep Show” pilot, Variety has learned. In addition, Yana Gorskaya (“What We Do in the Shadows”) has come onboard to direct the pilot.

The pilot, a reboot of the British comedy series of the same name, was originally commissioned at FX in December 2022. It hails from writer, executive producer, and showrunner Stefani Robinson.

The official logline states, “Taking inspiration from the original UK series ‘Peep Show’ and its unique narrative format, the pilot follows the relationship between a long-suffering assistant (Jahava) and her boss (Driver), an emotionally unstable tech entrepreneur.”

The role marks a return to FX for Driver, who previously starred in the series “The Riches” at the cable network. She is best known for her feature work, including her Oscar-nominated role in “Good Will Hunting.” Her other feature credits include “Circle of Friends,...

Prime Video drama “The Devil’s Hour” has cast “Top Boy” star Saffron Hocking for Season 2.

The British actor has joined the Hartswood Films-produced drama in the role of Sam Boyd, a detective sergeant who worked under Di Lucy Chambers (played by Jessica Raine) in a past life.

“The Devil’s Hour” was created by Tom Moran, and is executive produced by “Sherlock” showrunner Steven Moffat. The six-part thriller premiered on Prime Video in October.

The show follows Lucy, a social worker suffering from insomnia, who is inexplicably connected to a number of brutal murders in her neighbourhood, and is drawn into the search for a serial killer. The show also stars Peter Capaldi as Gideon Shepherd, a mysterious criminal with a unique relationship with time.

Season 2 is currently in production.

Paramount Television Studios has promoted Dominic Pagone to head of communications. He will report to Chris Ender, executive vice president of communications at CBS, and Nicole Clemens, president of Ptvs and Paramount+ original scripted series, who made the announcement Monday.

Previously, Pagone served as senior vice president of entertainment public relations and awards at Showtime Networks and Ptvs, overseeing the Los Angeles- and Boston-based PR teams at Showtime, as well as the Showtime Awards team and the Paramount Television Studios PR team.

Pagone previously served as Senior VP of Entertainment PR and Awards for Showtime. He oversaw the Los Angeles- and Boston-based PR teams at Showtime, as well as the Showtime Awards team and the Paramount Television Studios PR team.

He joined Showtime in April 2018 after spending 18 years at FX. He was hired in 2002 as a Publicist, working his way up to VP of Media Relations, leading or co-leading on shows like The Shield, Nip/Tuck, Rescue Me, Justified, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Riches, Man Seeking Woman and Sons of Anarchy. Exclusive: Fantasy film Man & Witch has announced the addition of Jennifer Saunders, Eddie Izzard, Daniel Portman (Game of Thrones), Bill Bailey and more as shooting wraps in Los Angeles and Scotland.

Saunders, Izzard, and Bailey voice the characters of goose, sheep, and donkey, respectively, in the family film about a lonely goatherd looking for love. The trio join previously announced Sean Astin who portrays the dog. All together they support the goatherd, played by screenwriter and star Greg Steinbruner.

Julie Ann Emery has been cast in Apple’s upcoming Hurricane Katrina series, “Five Days at Memorial.”

The series is based on the Sheri Fink novel of the same name. It chronicles the first five days in a New Orleans, LA, hospital after Hurricane Katrina made landfall. When the floodwaters rose, the power failed, and the heat climbed, exhausted caregivers were forced to make life-and-death decisions that haunted them for years to come.

Emery will play the role of Diane Robichaux, an assistant administrator for LifeCare, who finds herself deeply involved in the events following the hurricane. She joins previously announced cast members Vera Farmiga, Adepero Oduye and Cornelius Smith Jr.

Izzard made the announcement while making an appearance on the Sky Arts’ Portrait Artist of the Year, a competition series where artists are challenged to create a portrait of three famous subjects. In this case, one of them was Izzard.

During her appearance, Izzard said, “I try to do things that I think are interesting. This is the first program I’ve asked if I can be ‘she’ and ‘her’ — this is a little transition period.”

In March, director Luke Eve headed to Spain to marry his fiancé, actor and writer Maria Albiñana. But when the pandemic hit, they had to cancel their wedding two days out from the event.

The pair have since spent the last two months in strict lockdown in their Spanish apartment – together with Eve’s mum, who had travelled from Australia for the wedding.

After dealing with the initial emotion of the situation, Eve and Albiñana released their story had hallmarks of a sitcom.

Eve pitched it to Screen Australia as a heartfelt short-form drama, shot from the apartment via mobile phone, with the trio starring in and producing it together. Each episode would explores the aftermath of cancelling the wedding, and the various stages of the pandemic.

Exclusive: Former Speechless star Minnie Driver has extended the pod deal for her Huge Fan Productions banner at 20th Century Fox TV, the studio behind the ABC comedy series. She has set up her first project under the new deal — a dramedy series based on the Texas Monthly article “A Tree is Known by Its Fruit,” which is in development at FX. The project, about a West Texas family who own and run a pecan empire, is a potential starring vehicle for Driver, on which she would also serve as executive producer. Marty Coffou, Huge Fan’s Head of Development and Production would co-executive produce.

Rosenberg previously served as Evp U.S. Scripted Television and Svp Original Scripted Series Programming for Entertainment One. He oversaw eOne’s TV Development, Current Programming and Production department.

At eOne, which he joined in 2009, Rosenberg executive produced such series as Hell On Wheels, Rogue, Skins and The Firm and miniseries Klondike. He segued to eOne following a stint as head of TV series for Blueprint Entertainment, which was acquired by eOne. There he developed and executive produced HBO’s Hung. Before Blueprint, Rosenberg served as president of Maverick Television, where he developed and exec produced FX’s The Riches.

Rosenberg was most recently an independent producer and executive produced Pop TV’s comedy series Let’s Get Physical.

Exclusive: Taken developer Alex Cary has closed a significant three-year overall deal with Sony Pictures Television to develop new series projects for the studio.

Under his most recent overall pact at Universal Television, Cary wrote Taken, a prequel to the successful movie franchise, and served as executive producer/showrunner on the first of its two seasons.

Before that, Cary was under overall deals at 20th Century Fox TV. He worked for four years, from 2011-2014, on the Fox 21 TV Studios-produced Showtime drama Homeland, which he joined after the pilot, rising from co-executive producer to executive producers for Seasons 3 and 4.

Netflix has given a 10-episode series order to the thriller “Hit and Run” from “Fauda” co-creators Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz (pictured) and “Z: The Beginning of Everything” duo Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin.

Co-created by the four writers, the series follows a happily married man whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident.

Issacharoff, Raz, Prestwich and Yorkin will executive produce alongside Peter Principato, Itay Reiss and Kimberlin Belloni of Artists First, and David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks of Mandeville Films.

“Fauda,” which debuted its second season on the streamer earlier this year, has been a huge hit for Netflix and overseas. Back in March the Israeli political drama took home 11 awards from the Israel Academy for Film and Television, including a best actor prize for Raz.

Netflix has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to Hit and Run, an espionage thriller drama from Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, creators of the praised Netflix series Fauda, and Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin, creators of the Amazon comedy Z: The Beginning of Everything.

Created and written by Issacharoff, Raz, Prestwich and Yorkin, Hit and Run centers on a happily married man whose life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a mysterious hit and run accident.

Issacharoff, Raz, Prestwich and Yorkin executive produce with Peter Principato, Itay Reiss and Kimberlin Belloni of Artists First and David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks of Mandeville Films.

This marks the second series order in two months for Mandeville Films, which also is behind the new ABC drama series The Fix. Hit and Run falls outside of the company’s deal at ABC Studios.

Compared to Adlon’s “Louie” character, the actress’ new role as single mom Sam is just as blunt and borderline provocative but far less intimidating. In fact, she’s kind of adorable in a painfully put-upon but unapologetic way. The semi-autobiographical story has us cringing alongside every embarrassing audition, parental freakout and unfair setback, and yet, Sam’s integrity and backhanded optimism is apparent in that she doesn’t give up, but instead copes (with vodka, but copes nonetheless). Sam is the promise of “Louie’s” Pamela fully realized.

Sgt. Odelle Ballard (Anna Friel, “Pushing Daisies”) is part of a group that stumbles upon an Al Qaeda’s top commander, but she quickly discovers intel that suggests an American corporation is funding the group. A private military company comes to clean up, and Odelle’s company is killed to cover things up. She escapes, but now she’s on the run, and a long way from home, and doesn’t have anyone she can trust.

NBC has tweaked the title of its upcoming drama Odyssey less than a month before its premiere, renaming the show American Odyssey.

Though the network declined to comment on what spurred the name change, sources close to the production say the new title better reflects the arduous journey of protagonist Odelle (Anna Friel), an American soldier beset by enemies on all sides as she attempts to return to her friends and family in New York.

Of course, the more cynical answer is that NBC execs weren’t living under a rock in January, when American Sniper stormed the box office and racked up Oscar nominations. Renaming the show American Odyssey may make the series more palatable to the same right-leaning audiences that sent Sniper soaring.

After years of being stuck in development hell, a TV adaptation of the awesome and acclaimed Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming graphic novel Powers is finally moving forward. The ten-episode series will air on the Playstation Network, with Bendis and Oeming executive producing.
