The cast and crew were so attached during the filming, that on the last day of shoot everyone cried. Shahid Kapoor said that, "This was the first time that I didn't want to go back home after shooting was complete."

Vivah was predicted to initially be a flop by many analysts prior it's release, ironically it ended up becoming one of the highest grossing films of the year. A similar prediction had been made during the filming of Sooraj Barjatya classic Hum Aapke Hai Koun!
The story of the film was taken from an article in newspaper which Tarachand Barjatya had come across in 1988.
To promote the film, Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao sold tickets at the Fame Theatre in Malad, Mumbai.
