Terribly clunky, yet strangely amusing after a while
davitalvitch13 June 2006
I expected nothing from this film other than a way to help me recover from my three-day 35th birthday celebrating, a day I spent watching films in bed. I expected even less from it once that horrible "I'm a trucker" main titles song was played. The Roger character was the worst of the bunch for he was so over-the-top obnoxious and revolting that he'd not be anyone's polar-opposite friend at their age. Therefore, the very set up that these "types" (wigger, sexist pig, dweeb) would be still be friends as adults is ridiculous.

You have to understand that this is actually a comedy, which became evident once the dweeb fantasizes that when the girl in bed slowly, teasingly lowers the bed sheet, she reveals not her breasts but a report card featuring two A+'s.

However, it's a very trying film to sit through. I think I stopped it at one point to check e-mail. Even for low-budget, there are scenes which are just so stupid they're not even bad-enjoyable. Case in point: the convenience store scene. This seemed written by two 14-year-olds. Dreadful. And note how the owner tells them how there was a murder "last night" and concludes his tale by stating that "they never found out who did it." Ah, speed investigations...

In fact, I'd be surprised if the script HADn't been written by various persons for there seemed to be different styles of writing. In contrast, a tied-up-in-bed scene produces an amusing conversation during the fishing-out of a pocket knife from the male's pants.

Justin Geer, who played the dweeb, was fun to watch, for he actually can act. Tanya Fraser, the black girl whom is twice befriended, was good, and game even when being referred to as "tar baby." She has a very funny scene later in the film involving one of the blondes and a frying pan.

The film gets better, in its bad-self way, as it nears its conclusion for it becomes simply ludicrous and over-the-top. (If one wishes to be let in to the RV before it drives away, perhaps going to the FRONT of the RV where, you know, the WINDSHIELD is, is better than pounding on the back of it.) It's played as a joke by the remaining cast, and if you're drinking and/or toking with friends, you'll chuckle. This is simply a film one cannot take seriously as horror or as a full-on comedy, but I find myself liking it, in a limited way. I'd watch it again with friends on "Bad Movie Night," but skip past certain scenes.

Hilariously awful.
The_Rascal_Multitude15 December 2008
When you go into a film like "Motor Home Massacre", you expect to see either: 1) A surprisingly well crafted film that actually delivers some genuine suspense, even if it is low budget. (Extremely unlikely.) or 2) A movie that makes you burst out in peals of laughter at the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

What we have here is a case of the second option. Basically, the story concerns a group of kids who are portrayed in the crudest possible stereotypes that you'd expect in a "dead teenager" film. They go camping, and have a fateful encounter with a machete wielding maniac.

That's it, pretty much. The villain doesn't even use a chainsaw for the killings, which was odd, being that there's a bloody chainsaw on the cover of the DVD. One of those little things that makes you go "Hmmm..." The direction, atmosphere, and acting in this film ranks somewhere in between a softcore porn film you'd see on Cinemax at two in the morning, and a film class project made by high school students.

That's not to say that there wasn't anything about "Motor Home Massacre" that I didn't enjoy. One memorable part involving a gas station cashier and the soon-to-be machete meat had me in stitches. "What kind of troubles?" "DEAD PEOPLE TROUBLES." Whoever wrote the script for this film was a mad genius.

One of the worst
lifeexistence21 May 2006
So I consider this one of the worst movie's I have watched. It is so bad that it is funny to watch. I really can't believe Lionsgate produced it. Like people said, their are mistakes like a guy outside of the motor home in a button sweater and going inside with a vest and tie on.... like they shot it in different days. I could be wrong.... it could of been put in their on purpose. People say good gore? The gore is completely fake looking. The acting was yet horrid... good looking girls but they really couldn't act. There are scenes that are just like a soap opera like (girl "when did you pick these flowers?"...guy "right before sunrise baby, when I gave you breakfast in bed!) The things people say at times in it are completely dumb. However I do brag about this movie for how bad it is that people must watch it. Want a good laugh? this is one that will make you laugh

Crap, I forward it basically
Kurt_Loader24 May 2006
This is why people think horror films are such a joke, this one proves it all. It's stupid characters, dumb bimbo women and stupid gore and a killer who right away is figured out. I swear this film had Lion's Gate behind it. I can't believe what is on the mind of some writers and directors. Could we once get back to what makes a horror film superb? Good character development, good story line, suspense, that too hard? I didn't have sympathy towards the victims, I cheered they were killed off. I can't believe some horror films direct to DVD or video. Take time writing out characters and brainstorm ideas. Even the old 80's were better than this one.

Sloppy film-making at it's worst.
FrightMeter2 June 2006
This film could have been a return to form for the slasher genre. With a plot similar to so many of the 80's slasher gems, I had at least some hope for this film when I popped it into my DVD player. Sadly, those hopes quickly vanished as I began to watch amateur, sloppy film-making at it's worst. And that is really too bad, because with a better director and production team, and certainly better actors, this film could have been decent. Hell, I could have made this a better film with everything I noticed that was wrong.

The plot is simple slasher cliché: a group of friends take a motorhome trip for the weekend, only to come upon a campsite, where the night before a couple was brutally butchered. They are told since they *may* be suspects, that they need to stay put. It isn't long before they begin getting picked off one by one by a ridiculous looking masked killer. The filmmakers seem confused about what kind of film they really want to be making: a comedy? a slasher film? a drama? This leads to many scenes that could have and should have been suspenseful becoming a laughable mess. Suspense is lacking throughout the entire film, particularly in key scenes when suspense should have been crucial. The setting of the film is actually pretty creepy, and a better director would have capitalized on that. Instead, most of the film's action takes place in well-lit areas that seem to be right off the side of the road. There are virtually NO stalk sequences, which should be a staple to any good slasher flick. There are also some pretty large plot holes and goofs...the most obvious being the disappearing and reappearing vest and tie combo of the main male lead. From reading other reviews here, I am glad to know I am not the only one that noticed that. Which leads me to wonder if the director and editor even watched the film after they shot it. After all, if I and others could spot this on our first viewing, it should have been painfully obvious to the crew. And the scene at the end where this same male lead gets attacked and hacked on the chest and arms about 2 dozen times with a large machete, only to appear with just a few spots of blood on his arms is just TOO ridiculous to ignore.

The acting is pretty bad, from every one involved. Laughably bad, at some points.

It's really sad that this film COULD have been a lot better. With a name like "Motor Home Massacre," slasher fans should at least expect to see a decent movie. And what takes place in this film is hardly a massacre.........Please don't waste time or money on this unless you want to witness how NOT to make a slasher film. A huge disappointment. 2 out of 10

Wow
Nachgirlfriend48 July 2007
Wow this movie was probably one of the worst movies i've ever seen. It's really not hard to please me when it comes to movies because i like all kinds of movies. Horror and Dumb humor movies probably being my favorite.

I actually found this movie REALLY funny. I still thought it was terrible and i couldn't believe that blockbuster would actually rent out a movie THAT bad. The cover looked like it would be cool and i thought it sounded pretty good from the summary on the back. I laughed through the whole thing though. The ending was terrible and the facial expressions on their faces. I actually paused the TV on their faces making those stupid looks and took a picture. It was like they were trying really hard in the beginning of the movie and then just gave up at the end and decided to make it a comedy ending. (although their trying really isn't good at all)

This movie is terrible
skate_rat11 July 2006
First off let me just say that this was the worst film i have ever seen in my life. It was purely an amateur film. Most of the actors are just awful stereotypes of stupid teens. I have never seen such terrible acting in my days. What is up with all of the nude scenes? I see this movie as light pornography. I have enjoyed all of the Lions gate films I have seen in the past, but the thought that Lions Gate could have produced a piece of garbage like this is just insane. I would like to know why the cover shows a man holding a chainsaw? There isn't a single chainsaw in the entire movie. Every video, every disk, EVERYTHING that has anything to do with this movie should be buried and forgotten. Don't even waste your time on this film.

Warning: Spoilers
Okay... I am all for campy, fun, scare films. I mean, Sleepaway camp is one of the coolest movies I have ever seen... but Motor Home Massacre is awful. The idea was actually not that bad, but the actual product suffered. The acting was horrible -- the characters were very shallow, practically nonexistent in most cases, and, quite frankly absurd. The Benji guy did a decent job acting, as did the black girl (i forget her name). The rest could use some coaching. Every female in the movie possessed a massive "rack". Sometimes you got sidetracked from the plot (ha... plot!) for that reason alone. (The girl in the blue is absolutely gorgeous, and she doesn't even have a nude scene!) There are several scenes where the music simply does not add up. It is completely out of place and random. Not to mention it goes from love story, to porn, to funny, to creepy. Also, the goofs were outrageous. There is one scene where you can literally see a black blanket covering the windshield of the motor home. It's awful. In another scene, Benji goes back and forth from wearing a sweater and tie to wearing only a collared shirt four times within two shots. Hilarious. Also, the villain is some person in a poncho with night goggles.

Maybe it is just me, but I thought the movie was horrible, and I have seen some bad movies. It is worth than House of the Dead, Bloodsucking Freaks, Cabin Fever, and even Bloodsucking Freaks II: Manian Nurses. It's awful. Yet, the previous post comment had a point... buy some beer, drink most of it, and pop in this movie. You will have a blast. You will probably wind up in the hospital with a split gut for laughing so hard. It's hilarious. Regardless of its worth though, check it out. It will definitely inspire you to not make movies like this one.

This film is a massacre of time.
vegetto19310 April 2006
This movie is not worth anyones time. I do not know how Lions Gate produced it and lived. Please ban this from the shelves. If you like this movie then you like it for a laugh. After laughing so long at mistakes then it just sucks. Please do not waste your money. I would not even give this film a 1 .. It is the worst film I have ever seen. Lions Gate produces great films but everyone makes mistakes and this is one of them. This movie has many errors that the director and editor should explain what they were thinking about when they did it. The acting is also completely horrible. Benji and Sabrina are the only plausible actors. Also, what is with the white gangster going smart?

volsme0517 August 2006
contrary to previous comments left about this movie by the very well "informed" movie goer lions gate did not produce the film and in truth had nothing to do with the movie until after the movie was filmed produced and released; however i can agree the film was very awful. Given the circumstanced of the film that it was filmed with all amateur actors that were all from the Atlanta area i thought it was decent in that respect. Also in the casting of Lincoln was a brilliant move on the directors part for Todd Herring. He brought an aura to the character and given his extremely white background he played the part of the wigger rather well. But i do not recommend the movie to anyone

Silly slasher spoof.
HumanoidOfFlesh5 June 2009
The plot of "Motor Home Massacre" is pretty simple:a group of seven young friends climb aboard a vintage RV headed for a fun-filled weekend in the woods called Black Creek Park until they encounter a night-vision goggled,machete-wielding psychopath.I must admit that I did laugh few times during the film. However the acting is horrid, the story itself is silly and routine and the gore effects are extremely weak. The characters are some of the dumbest in the horror genre history.Thankfully the last twenty minutes are a constant flood of plot twists and laughs.Unfortunately there are far too many scenes of the characters just sitting around and endlessly delivering stupid one-liners,so there's absolutely no suspense conjured up and sustained. The murder sequences are ineptly handled and there's not a single valid scare to be found anywhere.4 out of 10.

Warning: Spoilers
this movie is so awful that it's great! Awful continuity and acting, matched with a funny backwoods horror story about a motorhome full of sexy chicks and stupid guys,...this is what low-budget horror is all about. Love the box cover art with the chainsaw and the maniac, neither of which are in the actual movie. Lionsgate rules for putting this out! All of the girls have big racks so the filmmakers obviously had a clue. Love the earlier daytime scenes where there was junk on the camera lens. You'd think they would have re-shot because it's so noticeable, not just a spec of dust/dirt or sunspots but this big area of junk totally there for all to see during a bright shot and moving camera. LOL! this rules so much! It should be shown at drive-in's as a double feature with Curse Of Pirate Death. I would pay for that!

worth seeing

Warning: Spoilers
i had high expectations for the movie than what i saw, bad acting, stupid ending, too much sex scenes...if ya want porn rent porn, but i wanted a horror thats why i rented this.also im sick of movies having the redneck character be stupid, filthy, perverted, mean, drunkard etc. im a redneck and i ain't like the ones they portray in movies. towards the end when the killer is hacking at people, it just don't seem real, you can tell the hacking is fake, and then the dude that has his arm cut off and just lays there like its funny? then the killer gets knocked in the head with a heavy frying pan and still stands like it was nothing. tho i did like seeing a bunch of cocky young people get killed, thats always a plus. but yeah with a name like motorhome massacre, yad expect a better movie, the way they're doing remakes, maybe lionsgate can redeem themselves and remake this one. im cool with movies having unknown actors. but god, get some decent ones. the music in the movie was cool tho, so thats good . the sex scenes made me mad cause i don't care for them, but also thats time they could of been spent on showing people get killed and mutilated. all and all tho i liked it, if ya ain't picky about low budget movies then ya oughta see this one.

Lion's Gate Proves itself again
afamouspetty3 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
May contain spoilers- Lion's Gate has delivered yet another painful movie that is a total ripoff of something done a million times before.

I am learning real fast Lion's Gate = CRAP! This movie sure does have it all- fake accents, more silicone than a hardware store, horrible acting, horrible script, looks like a home movie with the cheesy fade between, and even a bunch of old chicks (and guys) fooling themselves that they are acting and worse trying to portray an age range that they may have seen 10-20 years ago! It is totally unbelievable. It made me very sick to see this crap! One guy looked like he had spray on hair or something during the first travel scene where he is checking out stuff! The opening scene just ruined it all totally fake and way overdone. The coloring was way off on the blood and the whole thing just stunk! Many "ideas" can be seen where they have ripped it off from other films from the slasher 80's types.

I am a HUGE fan of horror and enjoy many low budget. But save yourself some pain and avoid this one! It is horrible!! It truly is that bad. Save yourself time and money by avoiding this one!

What is going on at Lionsgate? There was a time (not too long ago) when you could flip over a DVD at the rental store, and know that the movie wouldn't completely suck because you saw the name Lionsgate on it. Are those days gone forever? Have some pride in your company LG. Do not forget that you are publicly traded. Your investors and others who thought your name meant something deserve more than this. PLEASE...do not stoop to this low. Not every movie needs to be made. Not every movie deserves a DVD release. Movies this bad should not be produced. Plain and simple. ( One note: The DVD artwork is great. To the CEO: Big raises to the art dept & find a new team of movie scouts.) Last word.... Remember when the Exxon Valdez spilled all that crap, and no one bought Exxon anything for a LONG LONG time? Don't keep spilling this crap Lionsgate.

New meaning of bad
Greatornot22 March 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was so bad . The acting was horrible , the plot was predictable and even the characters were carbon copies of some other recent horror flicks of the past decade or so = The noble dweeb that is braver than the obnoxious cool guy, the smart girl , the bimbo , they even had a white guy that talked like a black man that I have seen in other movies. Sooo predictable one of the girls running falls down. There was no originality in this movie , no suspense, nothing that will surprise. I make it a point to see as many of these genre movies as I can and the best thing I can say is the horror of watching this movie is ended .

Warning: Spoilers
I can't think of one single thing good to say, other than the Wide Angle shot of the Motor Home in front of the house in the very beginning. This film starts out with a very clumsily shot sequence where a girl gets strung up inside her tent and stabbed. We get some really quick cuts, and the motion of the shot is moved around to make it look more violent than it really was. The blood is very pink! Come on it's not that hard to make real looking blood! Look it up on the net, you'll find it! This movie has the most idiotic clichéd characters I have ever witnessed, and I watch A lot of indie horror. I actually prefer it for the most, but this was pure garbage. The soundtrack was bad beyond words and had some terrible music cues! Not quit as bad as Rob Zombie's Halloween but really bad. The Garage band loops get very old, very fast! There is no continuity! Watch the dork guys outfit change in the beginning! As one reviewer posted a low budget is no reason for obvious mistakes like this one! The day for night shots looked really bad. We go from a really dark lit camp scene to a daytime shot with a little blue tint added to it. Shoot closer to dusk or very early morning! Don't shoot in the middle of the day and expect to pull this trick off! Oh my gosh this is bad! I give Kudos for getting the movie made, and out there, but try a little harder next time people! Wow LionsGate! Mr. Jingles last week, and now this crap! Really bad ending as well. Stay away from this at all costs!

"You're not making any sense!"
Sandcooler6 February 2013
I love amateur horror filmmaking to death, but even I'm having troubles finding any redeeming qualities about "Motor Home Massacre". Things just don't add up: logically you would assume a slasher flick by and for avid horror fans would be technically inept, but still filled with all kinds of good stuff and everything the audience would want. "Motor Home Massacre" proves me wrong however, because it takes forever before something actually happens in this movie. The entire first hour is all padding. We get some funny attempts at giving the characters emotional depth (complete with flashbacks to their past relationships, fascinating stuff), we get some unfunny attempts at comic relief, we get to look at some fake boobs and we meet the most obvious red herring character in the history of cinema. Then finally the action takes place, but all the kills and chase scenes are so poorly done that writer/director Allen Wilbanks usually just prefers to keep everything off screen or shot from the most ridiculous angles. A lot of people die in a very short period of time, but it's still about as exciting as watching grass grow because you don't see anything and there's just no atmosphere whatsoever. Oh, and then there's the big finale in the end, where the killer turns out to be ***gasp*** exactly who you thought it was. It doesn't take much for me to like one of these things, but this one just doesn't give you anything.

Reasons why nobody should ever suffer through this movie...
Movie_Buff39017 July 2006
Warning: Spoilers
This has got to be one of the worst movies to come along in a long time. I decided to judge this movie by its cover... so I thought it might turn out half-way decent. I was really wrong...

This movie is about a group of extremely stupid friends who decide to go camping in a wooded area where two murders occurred the night before.

Basically everybody starts to die off when they get there and the key people obviously live. Here are a few reasons why you shouldn't waste your money... 1) The acting is extremely horrendous and the plot is the lamest things you will ever witness. 2) Plot holes... enough said 3) There are actually parts in this movie where a person is talking and the mouth isn't moving... 4) It's just plain stupid...

People shouldn't have to suffer through this movie if they don't have to... If you want a good horror movie... I suggest you go rent Saw II or Final Destination 3... This doesn't add up to either of them.

Overall Rating: 1.5/10 --> F-

Awful low budget horror crap.
poolandrews7 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Motor Home Massacre starts as four friends, Roger (Nelson Bonilla), Lincoln (Todd Herring), Nick (Greg Corbett) & Benji (Justin Geer), climb aboard a big motor home ready for a weekend camping in the wilderness at a place called 'Black Creek Park'. On their way they pick up three girls, Sabrina (Shan Holleman), Brooke (Breanne Ashley) & Faith (Nichole Crisp) to join in the fun, however once there they are confronted with a crime scene as the previous night a double murder took place & the killer hasn't yet been apprehended...

Co-edited, photographed, co-written & directed by Allen Wilbanks this is the sort of low budget crap that gives horror, the genre that I love, a bad name. The script is terrible, utterly predictable, totally clichéd, takes itself far too seriously & judging from the title you would expect some sort of slasher with a bunch of teens being killed off in various gory ways but what Motor Home Massacre is in reality is more of a murder mystery & when I use the word mystery I use it in the loosest possible sense because the killers identity is no mystery at all I had guessed it correctly within 25 minutes. This is pretty much amateur hour, everything about Motor Home Massacre sucks, the annoying teen character's are awful as is the lame dialogue, there's hardly any exploitation or horror & it's incredibly slow & boring as well. Motor Home Massacre is the sort of film with stupid character's who just make idiotic decisions & are badly realised, Motor Home Massacre is one of those piece of crap films that is literally painful to sit through. I don't know, I really don't because I've sat through a lot of these worthless zero budget shot on a camcorder glorified home film type things & frankly I'm sick of them, sorry rant over.

Director Wilbanks hasn't worked on any other film in any other capacity & it show's, the whole thing is just stupid & moronic. The light levels in the sky change between shots, a single fire wouldn't create that much light on it's own, there are obvious continuity problems, there's no scares, there's no atmosphere & only a few shoddy gore scenes. There's a guy with the skin peeled off his back exposing his spine, someone is stabbed in the stomach, someone is trapped in a tent & stabbed with a spear, there's a severed arm & a rubbishy looking decapitated head. It all looks very poor & cheap though.

Technically Motor Home Massacre is basic to say the least, it has not style or visual interest whatsoever. There's nothing here that particularly impresses & it looks every bit like the low budget piece of crap that it is. The rubbishy loud music annoyed me too. The acting is predictably terrible & a certain cast member should have the word 'murderer' tattooed on their forehead they make it so obvious...

Motor Home Massacre is crap, it's as simple & straight forward as that & if you can find one single person to say anything good about it I'd be very surprised. I hated it, enough said.

Entertaining low-rent send-up of the slasher genre
Woodyanders11 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
We all know the drill by now: Seven young folks in a vintage RV venture into the woods for a weekend excursion. Naturally, they run afoul of a vicious psycho wielding a machete. Fortunately, writer/director Allen Wilbanks wisely doesn't take this tried'n'true hackneyed premise seriously; instead he pokes merry goofball fun at such familiar slice'n'dice clichés as the isolated backwoods setting, young adults marking themselves for certain doom by smoking pot and making out in a tent, cheap false scares, and a climactic revelation of the killer's true identity that's positively gut-busting in its jaw-dropping obviousness. Moreover, Wilbanks not only delivers gobs of deliciously cheesy gore and a satisfying smattering of tasty gratuitous female nudity, but also loads the picture with several silly flashbacks, draws the characters with some depth, and further spices things with a crudely amusing sense of blithely inane humor. Moreover, it's decently acted by an attractive cast: Shan Holleman as the forlorn Sabrina, Nelson Bonilla as arrogant and lecherous jerk Roger, Justin Geer as likable nerd Benji, Breanne Ashley as the assertive Brooke, Tanya Fraser as the sweet Nicole, Greg Corbett as the amorous Nick, and Diana Picallo as the brash Melanie. Lane Morlotte contributes a hysterically slimy turn as boorish and repulsive local redneck lout Jebediah. The uneven cinematography alternates between slick and grainy throughout while the lively soundtrack hits the cool rocking spot. Enjoyable tongue-in-cheek junk.

Right on Mr. Wheeler
cchesowsky29 March 2006
I think Mr. Wheeler's comments pretty much say it all. Great horror film that is a must see. This movie has it all including quite a dramatic ending. I also had the luxury of being at the premier which was the perfect setting to enjoy the film with cast and crew. I have been a big fan of this genre for quite sometime and it is refreshing to see that quality movies of this nature all still be produced. The film takes several dramatic turns filled with horror, comedy, suspense, and drama. All facets of this film are very creative and very well delivered by the cast. I can only hope that Mr. Wilbanks will continue down this path of making quality horror films that do not follow the mainstream stereotypes.

Hope For YouTubians
liberalblossom155 December 2007
Seriously, I NEVER rate films this low, but this film really deserves it. The story follows seven young friends in a motor home who venture out into the woods on a camping trip. There they meet Nicole, who apparently witnessed the murder of a young couple on a nearby campsite the night before. Pretty soon (but not soon enough in my book) these annoying teenagers are knocked off one by one.

Do not get the wrong idea - I am a huge horror buff. I really enjoy B-movies, which is why I rented this film in the first place. I wanted to have a cheesy good time, and kick back with my boyfriend. My God, was this film atrocious! The acting was terrible, of course, that is typical of B-movies. The script is very poorly written and the film seems to be in an identity crisis - should it be a horror film? A Drama? A Comedy? A Porno? - meshing many different ideas into one film. The storyline was decent but it was butchered much more than the many victims killed off. The characters are flat and the killer predictable. The bad effects had to be the worst part of this film though - I have seriously seen better gore done in home videos on YouTube.

Overall, this is even a disappointment to B-movie buffs like myself. The only good scene is near the end involving the blonde girl, the killer and a heavy frying pan. If this film was made, I see no reason why all of the amateur horror directors on YouTube can't get paying gigs - half of their films are superior to this one.

I wasted my money on renting this horrible movie and wasn't even able to get a refund or exchange. The only reason i rented it was because of the interesting cover art.It also sounded interesting by the movie description so i wanted to see it.I thought it would be similar to something like Friday the 13th since they were going out deep in the woods and were being stalked by a maniac.I watched a bit of this movie and then skipped from scene to scene hating it even more.I finally turned it off and watched something else which wasn't the greatest movie either but at least watchable. This film must have been either a student film or a very very bad B movie.I don't even know how it ended up in this DVD rental shop. The acting was worse then porn star acting. There was no plot and it looked like a rough cut of some movie made by a total amateur. I love horror movies and am open minded but this was absolute garbage!
