stinker
robinflem10 November 2008
predictable and horrid storyline, dialog, characters, etc.

paid $1.08 to rent and felt robbed paying even that amount.

kept watching for some socially redeeming value and found none.

cover shows fiery explosions. don't be misled. highest notable spfx - poorly done gunshot in the back.

NOT an action film.

feel sorry for those involved and hope it won't spoil the rest of their career.

was thinking it might be a remake of the mel Gibson payback, but this stinker has nothing in common except the title. what a shame for mel.

gratuitous, unnecessary, and unfulfilling sex and violence scenes.

characters seemed uncaringly simple and incomplete. "where's your mom?", and "how's my uncle?" are two lines that the lead should have verbalized or acted on. i'm still waiting.

given time i may be able to, but for now can't remember seeing anything worse.

Bullets Fly, Breasts Bounce
wes-connors25 April 2010
Disgusted Las Vegas cop Christopher Atkins (as Sean Walker) quits the police force, after partner Gavin Glennon (as Lyle) is killed in a shoot-out with crooked Costas Mandylor (as Billy). Mr. Atkins blames his pal's death on the lack of back-up provided by fellow officer Michael Leon (as Barnett), who seems more interested in sex and booze than fighting crime. The psychotically homicidal Mr. Mandylor gets a bullet-induced limp, and life in prison without parole. Atkins moves to the country.

Ten years later, Atkins has split with sexy red-haired wife Angie Everhart (as Samantha) and budding Lesbian daughter Wendy Norton (as Jessica), but the trio enjoy visitations. Their lives are disrupted by the escape of Mandylor, hell bent on killing everyone who sent him to jail. Atkins is called into action by the Las Vegas Police Department he left a decade earlier, by corrupt officer Leon, who has been promoted to Captain. Mandylor terrorizes Atkins and family. "Payback" only fills time.

*** Payback (2006) Winston W. Champ ~ Christopher Atkins, Angie Everhart, Costas Mandylor, Michael Leon

a trite, clichéd mess
movieman_kev17 December 2008
After Billy (Costas Mandylor of the Saw films) is sent to prison for killing Sean Walker's (Blue Lagoon's Christopher Atkins) partner (among other things), Sean quits the police fore and moves his family to an isolated ranch where he takes work as a farmhand with his dad. Ten years later, Billy is back on the streets after escaping and looking to settle the score with Sean by hitting him where he hurts most, his family, including his wife the left him (Angie Everhart) and their homely sex-crazed, bi-curious daughter. (don't get too excited as that aspect of the story goes nowhere)

This film is a heavily-clichéd, extremely badly acted, horribly written 'action revenge' picture. This not only pales greatly in comparison to Mel Gibson's similarly name "Payback", but also is the worst film with the name that I've seen yet (to this date i've seen 5 of those named films as well as a TV film, all much better then this one) Don't bother renting this one unless you have a stalkerish fascination with Angie Everhart

Eye candy: An extra gets topless; Nicole LeVoy shows T&A (there's also nudity in the trailers for "Natasha" & "Distortion")

My Grade: D-

DVD Extras: Trailers for "Kush", "Good girl, Bad girl", "Natasha" , "Army of the Dead", "This thing of ours", & "Distortion"

a terrible movie filled with plot holes and soft-core porn subplots.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I could practically predict what was going to happen at every turn during the movie! Do yourself a favor and don't rent this movie like i did! It wasn't worthy of the title "Payback" or even a B grade rating. The movie had so many clichés that I almost feel asleep watching it. I don't normally have many negative things to say about movies, even average ones. But this one was so bad that I just had to "review" the movie to stop people from wasting money on it. Major FAIL. I would give this movie less than a zero, but the voting scale doesn't allow me to do that! So the official rating is 1 out of 10.

Not to be confused with the far more superior Mel Gibson revenger crime thriller of the same title.

Warning: Spoilers
***SPOILERS*** It's when his friend and police partner Lyle, Gavin Glennon, was gunned down in a blotch drug sting that Las Vegas cop Sean, Chris Atkins, decided to call it quits and move back to his Uncle Jesse's, Stan Glick, dude ranch to get away from the stress of being a big city cop. It was during the shootout where Lyle was killed that Sean gunned down his killer Vegas drug dealer Billy, Costas Mandylor. It was a bullet riddled Billy who miraculously, after getting hit by four slugs to his chest from Sean's .9MM, survived with only a slight limp to show for his troubles.

It's now ten years later and Billy after having all that time to think things over makes his long planned escape from Clark Community Penitentiary killing two prison guards in the process. Filled with both hate and revenge against Sean for putting him behind bars Billy is now determined together with his kill crazy girlfriend Sadie aka "Sadie the Sadist", Laura Lane, to get back not only at Sean but his now estranged wife Samantha, Angie Everheart, and and their 18 year old and coming of age, in with anything and anyone goes sex, Jessica, Wendy Norton, as well!

It doesn't take long for Sean to find out that he's not needed in helping catching Billy's in that his former fellow cop and now promoted to Captain Barnett, Michael Leone, going out of his way in keeping him from from helping track Billy down. It in fact was Barnett who was responsible in the blotch drug sting where Lyle was killed by him spending his time trying to make it with a fashion model instead of coming to Sean and Lyale's aid when all the shooting began! With Billy and Sadie now headed to Uncle Jesse's ranch where both Samantha & Jessica were staying it's only a matter of time when the major bloodletting in the movie would begin! With Sean now on his own trying to get there first and do his best to stop it from happening!

Costas Mandylor, a well known face on the Lifetime Movie Network, does his best as psycho killer Billy yet it's hard to imagine him being so effective in his actions, where he comes across as being almost superhuman, with four bullets lodged in his body! There's also the fact of Billy's girlfriend Sadie being so off the wall, and a liability to his safety, that you wonder why he puts up with her all throughout the movie? While at the same killing a number of people like a gas station attendant and the luckless, in nothing going right for him, Uncle Jesse who are no threat to him, in being captured, at all!

As for both Angi Everheart and the cute and pretty Wendy Norton as Samantha as her sexy daughter Jessica they both provided the eye candy in the movie with their T&A scenes which in fact saved it from going under. The sight of Samantha and Jessica running through the grass being chased by a gun toting Billy with their upper body parts wildly and uncontrollably jiggling up and down was worth the price of admission, or the DVD, alone!

NOW I FEEL BETTER
nogodnomasters8 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Sean (Christopher Atkins) is a police detective. His partner gets killed in a drug deal bust gone bad. Criminal Billy (Costas Mandylor) pulled the trigger. He also blames Detective Barnett (Michael Leon) who was supposed to be there. Sean quits the force and goes live on a ranch. Billy escapes from prison and goes on a crime revenge rampage.

The action scenes are mostly quick and light. The story lacks depth and character. The film is currently making the rounds in action multi film collections at Walmart, perhaps the best and cheapest way to own it.

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity (Nicole LeVoy, Angela Lavalle ?)
