• Jürgen Prochnow makes a comment about how he "had a bad experience in one of these before" when in the submarine. This is a reference to Boot, Das (1981), in which Prochnow starred as The Captain.
  
  
• The techno song played during the Germans "training" scene is same song played in Super Troopers (2001) when they pull over the Porsche. The song is "Bidibodi Bidibu" by Bubbles.
  
  
• "Schniedelwichsen" is a name put together from vulgar German words. The literal translation is "cock jerking".
  
  

• While in the Beerfest "arena" they show portraits of the Von Wolfhaus ancestors. One of the portraits is of the 11th President of the United States James K. Polk.
  
  
• Steve Lemme's character, Charlie 'Fink' Finklestein, is named after the character Barton Fink (1991), from the Coen Brothers movie of the same name. Steve wears the same glasses and has the same curly hairstyle as Barton Fink.
  
  
• All three of the senior Von Wolfhausens were named for classical music composers. They are named for Ludwig Von Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
  
  
• The character names "Hammacher" and "Schlemmer" are, together, the name of an upscale mail-order catalog.
  
  
• When Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske are initially being led to the Beerfest arena, the other members of Broken Lizard have cameos. Kevin Heffernan is a German woman putting a human leg through a meat grinder, Jay Chandrasekhar is a blind bearded man being circled by a singing boy on a tricycle, and Steve Lemme appears as a clown-like character sporting a strap-on.
  
  
• Erik Stolhanske (Todd Wolfhouse) is the only man left in the Broken Lizard comedy group who has yet to do a nude scene.
  
  
• The t-shirts worn by the contestants in the hot dog eating contest display a yellow, red and turquoise logo, which is identical to New Mexico state license plates. The plates consist of a yellow background, red numbers and letters, and turquoise graphics on the bottom. A large portion of Beerfest was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
  
  
• Beerfest was inspired by Broken Lizard's experiences at Colgate University, as well as a spontaneous "boat race" drinking contest at a beer festival between the comedy troupe members and Australians during the promotion of _Broken Lizard's Super Troopers (2001)_. The names of some of the characters in Beerfest are taken from classmates and fraternity brothers at Colgate University, including the nickname "Landfill" and a brief mention of "Tommy Malarky". After the German cast members completed their final day of filming, the American and German cast competed in another boat race; the Broken Lizard team won two out of three games.
  
  
• The cast drank non-alcoholic O'Doul's beer during most of the filming, although alcoholic beer was sometimes consumed near the end of a day of filming.
  
  
• Will Forte impressed the cast with his beer drinking speed.
  
  
• While at the Schnitzengiggle, Kevin Heffernan's character orders six Schnitzes. This is a reference to his character ordering six Schlitzes at the anti-drug rally in _Broken Lizard's Super Troopers (2001)_.
  
  
• The large, beer-filled, boot-shaped glass termed "Das Boot" in the movie served as the grand finale' of all of the drinking games. Actually "Das Boot" translates as "the boat" in English. "Der Stiefel" would be the correct German terminology for "the boot." Such "beer boots" are known as "Bierstiefel" in Germany. They are descended from the centuries old German soldier's tradition of accepting the challenge to drink beer out of another's boot.
  
  
• The final scene with the message "Coming Soon -- Potfest" was confirmed by Broken Lizard as a joke to make this film have an open-ended feel. The troupe said there has been fan support to create the sequel, which might be made as an animated film.
