Stunning, bizarre homage to '70s horror cinema
DVD_Connoisseur25 October 2005
"The Goat Sucker" is a perversely dark slice of indie cinema from Matthew Reel, journeying into the life of the character known as The Goat Sucker. The title refers to a desert dwelling serial killer who films his gory handy-work for the pleasure of the mafia.

This is 22 minutes of a beautifully shot, hypnotically surreal, audio and visual descent into the psychotic world of a madman. There were moments in this film that surpassed any expectations of a low budget project, from the animated titles to the terrific soundtrack and layered visual effects. The acting's first class and special mention must go to the beautiful Elske McCain as the film's ill fated dancer and the director, Matthew Reel, as the Goat Sucker himself.

This is a horror short that leaves the viewer wanting more. With rumours of a sequel already surfacing, I've a feeling we've not heard the last from this mysterious Goat Sucker or from the outrageously talented Matthew Reel....
