Cute, easygoing travelogue
Turtle-4829 August 2006
If you enjoy Rachael Ray and her Food Network adventures, then "Tasty Travels" will go down easy. It does kind of feel like "$40 a Day" rehashed and if you've watched all or most of that show, then this one will probably feel overly familiar. On the plus side, Ray is a congenial host, the kind of person you'd want to guide you around a strange city. I actually prefer "Tasty Travels" because Ray is freed from having to seek out the lowest-price alternatives to meet a forty-dollar budget; sometimes it pays to spend a little more... (and although Ray seems like a good egg in real life, the tips she is forced to leave on "$40 a Day" are a little skimpy). So "Tasty Travels" is not exactly revolutionary television, but it is a cute, easygoing travelogue.

where in the world is Rachael Ray?

Rachael ray takes us to the hottest, sometimes expensive, sometimes not.. places on the planet. It takes food and travel to another level. Though the show itself is centered around food it also serves as a tourist guide. Comparable to her other show "$40 a day" but with a lot more money to spend. Rachael is funny, personable and though sometimes annoying...you can't help but like her when shes meeting people and exploring places many of us have never been but would love to see. I love this show for two reasons.. one, it's fast paced and fun.. and two Rachael is much like the annoying friend...great to be around...but gets annoying after a couple of hours.

Terrible

Rachael Ray's manic fast talking and mispronouncing takes more unsuspecting cities by storm. Good for a laugh, if only to see whatever wacky homemade looking outfit she is wearing. Or to see her invade some poor chefs kitchen. Ray glosses over a city and the viewer gets a hazy overview of what she feels are good places to eat. Reading message boards of the 'locals' from the towns she visits, they beg to differ. There is no substance here. If you like raspy screaming and lame 'tips' that everyone already knows this is the program for you. Also good for those who just love Rachael and everything she does regardless of quality.

Warning: Spoilers
Yet another useless Food Network Show where people are not actually doing anything other than being Food Celebrities. Supid show, obnoxiously loud host....Yuck. I used to enjoy Rachael's early 30 Minute Meal Show, the real early days, when she was quieter and all about the food. Now she is loud, and for some reason seems to think that her audience is in the age range of 5-6 years old...."Don't put your hands in the food processor while the blade is still turning guys". Honestly and truly appalling..Not sure what the idea was behind Tasty Travels other than to inflict Rachael Ray on more poor unsuspecting "locals". Tasty travels is trying to be a more up-market $40 a Day show, where Rachael can go to more expensive places, with the added benefit that they don't show on the screen what an unbelievably lousy tipper she is. Won't watch this show again.
