Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones (Video Game 2005) Poster

Yuri Lowenthal: The Prince

Quotes

  • The Prince : Farah!

Farah : How do you know my name?

    The Prince : Yes... I...

The Dark Prince : I *eagerly* await your response.

The Prince : I have heard tales... wondrous tales... of a beautiful... and brave Princess of India... one who has travelled to Babylon, seeking to punish... an evil Vizier... who has caused her great distress!

[Farah draws an arrow and aims at the Prince]

The Dark Prince : See? Now she's going to kill us.

[Farah's arrow passes the Prince by a few inches, and hits a Sand Creature right behind him]

Farah : How in the world have you managed to survive this long? Good luck, stranger.

  • The Dark Prince : Oh come now. Did you really expect to find him alive? After everything you have experienced, still you hold out hope?

The Prince : Oh father, what have I done?...

The Dark Prince : What now then? Gather up enough sand and perform another grand rewind? Or return to the island and travel back to a time he might still be saved, maybe even save your damsel in distress along the way?

The Prince : No. You are right, I have been like a child, naive and arrogant, always rushing to undo my mistakes. Never facing the consequences of my actions.

    [the Prince stands up]

The Prince : No more. I accept what I have done, and all it implies.

    [transforms back into the Prince]

The Dark Prince : What is this? You have no water. How did you...?

The Prince : You have no power over me anymore. Be gone! Retreat to whatever dark hole spawned you, but do not trouble me again.

  • The Prince : Why then is this happening to me?

The Dark Prince : You have been infected by the Sands of Time, as I am sure you have noticed. Maybe it's the dagger, maybe it's all the time you spent amongst the Sands, or

    [chuckles]

The Dark Prince : amongst the Empress. Either way, you are resisting it. Mostly.

    The Prince : Mostly?

The Dark Prince : You did just transform into something rather... unique. So I think the word is quite appropriate.

    [sighs]

The Dark Prince : Think of it this way: you have been given a gift. You're stronger, faster...

    The Prince : Uglier.

The Dark Prince : Now, now...

The Prince : That explains the transformation. But who are you?

The Dark Prince : Have you not realized? I am your untapped potential, your unrealized dreams. I am part of you.

The Prince : I'm... You are inside of me?

  • The Dark Prince : With the ability to manipulate time itself, you have the chance to become the greatest king the world has ever known. What wars you could have fought; what monuments you could have erected in your honor; what women you could get. But you have failed me, Prince. You grew soft and sympathetic; my attempts to convince you to seek glory fell on deaf ears. So, I bided my time; waiting for the proper moment to strike. You do not deserve what you have been given, control over the world's greatest empire. With the power of the Sands at your command you could rule the world. You have squandered it Prince, I will do it justice, and so it should be *mine*!

The Prince : You are just a parasite, you deserve NOTHING!

The Dark Prince : But don't I? Have I not earned it? Do you think you'd still be here if not for me? How many times did I save you? How many times have I unblocked your path, cut down your enemies, remind you of your mission? While all you did was cry about your father, and Kaileena, and Farah, how everything bad always happens to you. Boo hoo, Prince.

The Prince : Your words are empty, have always been empty. You are just a reckless, selfish spirit.

The Dark Prince : If I am selfish, Prince, it is because *you* are. If I am ruthless and reckless and lacking in morals, it is because *you* are. I did not spin myself from out of the ether, I was not conjured by some mad vizier; I am *YOU*.

The Prince : No, I have seen the error of my ways, and I have atoned for the trangressions of my past. I am no longer that person.

The Dark Prince : Seasons change, tastes change. But people... people never change. You delude yourself believing otherwise. Do not fight me. Set down your sword; embrace me. Do you mean to kill me then, to cut me down like all your other enemies? SWING THAT SWORD, PRINCE! We'll see how well that works. Such violence, your anger serves only to feed me. So I have to ask, have you really changed? After all, I'm still right here standing before you.

  • The Prince : [about Farah]  She called me stranger... She remembers nothing of our past together.

The Dark Prince : Because it never happened. You know, no Sands of Time, no Azad, you get the Vizier but you loose the girl. It doesn't matter, we're better of without her. Or have you forgotten? Maybe a few arrows in the back will help stir your memory.

The Prince : We must catch up with her.

The Dark Prince : Fair enough. Though I suspect you and I want very different things from the girl.

  • Mahasti : Your journey will not end well!

The Prince : If I had sands for every time someone said that to me...

[the Prince collects some sands of time]

The Prince : Oh, apparently I do!

  • Farah : Try pulling one of those levers.

The Prince : With my luck, it will probably trigger some terrible trap... Or summon sand-monsters... Or bring about the end of the world!

Farah : Would it kill you to show a little optimism?

The Prince : Experience has taught me that wishful thinking only leads to disappointment.

  • Farah : Wake up... wake up.

    The Prince : Farah?

Farah : Are you all right?

The Prince : I think... I think it's finally over.

Farah : [later]  Prince, there's still something I don't understand. How did you *really* know my name?

The Prince : [smiles]  Most people think time is like a river that flows swiftly and surely in one direction. But I have seen the face of time and can tell you, they are wrong. Time is an ocean in a storm. You may wonder who I am and why I say this. Come, and I shall tell you a tale like none you have ever heard...

  • Farah : What is your favorite color?

    The Prince : Color?

Farah : Shall I repeat the question?

    The Prince : Blue.

The Dark Prince : Blue? That's not my favorite color.

The Prince : What is the point of this?

Farah : Must every conversation we have be so serious? I know so little about you.

The Prince : Very well, then what is your favorite food?

Farah : The pomegranate, of course.

The Prince : I do not like pomegranates.

Farah : What is wrong with you?

The Prince : They're messy, impossible to eat with dignity. SO much work for a few small seeds.

Farah : But isn't it the effort that makes them that much sweeter?

The Dark Prince : I think I'm going to be sick.

  • The Prince : To conquer a city is one thing. But to do so with such violence and cruelty is something else entirely. I will return every blow he has landed against my kingdom.

The Dark Prince : We are close Prince, so close, let us make him suffer.

  • The Dark Prince : I'm impressed.

The Prince : Oh, good. Your opinion means a *great* deal to me.

The Dark Prince : Is that how you thank the man who just saved your life?

The Prince : First, you did not save my life, I did. Second, you are not a man, just a disembodied voice, a ghost. And third, I never asked for your help, and I certainly do not need it.

The Dark Prince : While I admire your *bravado*, you would be wise to show some respect.

The Prince : And you would be wise to keep quiet. You're distracting me, and we are no longer alone.

  • Farah : Don't you think you can move a little faster?

The Prince : You're more than welcome to come down and try it yourself.

The Prince : [to himself]  Seven years, and still nothing's changed.

Farah : [overhearing]  Seven years? What are you talking about?

The Prince : Nothing. It's... uh... figure of speech.

Farah : There's something very odd about you.

The Dark Prince : She has *no* idea.

  • The Prince : You're a persistent inner voice, aren't you?

The Dark Prince : Well, someone's got to make the decisions.

  • The Dark Prince : Onward and upward, Prince. Hurry to the palace and reclaim your throne!

The Prince : I'm moving as fast as I can! What do you suggest? That I grow wings and fly?

The Dark Prince : One can always dream.

  • Farah : The Dagger of Time. How did you come to posses that?

The Dark Prince : Here we go again.

The Prince : I took it, from the Vizier.

Farah : That traitor. He killed my father, enslaved my people, imprisoned me. And all in the name of becoming some kind of god.

The Prince : I know too well what he is capable of, but I intend to find him, and punish him for what he has done to my kingdom.

Farah : *You* are the son of Sharaman, the Prince of Persia?

The Prince : And you are the daughter of the Maharajah. We both seek the same thing. Perhaps we should journey together.

Farah : Perhaps. Provided you can keep up.

The Dark Prince : I grow tired of her little tests.

The Prince : It is simply her way. I assure you she will prove a valuable ally.

  • The Dark Prince : You know, I've been thinking about what Farah said earlier. She has a point. How do you plan to kill the Vizier? He's immortal now.

The Prince : The dagger made him into what he is. It can unmake him.

The Dark Prince : I suppose we will know the truth of this soon enough.

  • The Prince : No more rooftops.

The Dark Prince : Indeed. Irritating little detour. Let us be on with it. Head down to street level and we will look for a way to regain the rooftops.

The Prince : You are an insistent inner voice, aren't you?

The Dark Prince : Well, *someone* has to make the decisions.

  • Farah : [after the Prince helped her to proceed]  Thank you, Prince.

The Prince : Of course. The problem is, now *I* am trapped.

The Dark Prince : Just like a woman. Solving *her* problems creates a new one for you.

Farah : Allow me to return the favor, then.

[Farah she shoots a bell down with an arrow so the Prince can climb out]

The Prince : You were saying?

The Dark Prince : Go on then.

  • The Prince : I hope Farah is all right.

The Dark Prince : You are spending way too much time looking after the girl. Is this necessary?

The Prince : You sound upset. Are you jealous?

The Dark Prince : Just focus on getting to the palace!

  • The Prince : [in Dark Prince form]  I cannot let Farah see me like this!

The Dark Prince : Worry she will prefer the new you?

The Prince : Charred skin, glowing eyes, melted face. I'm sure it will be love at first sight.

  • The Dark Prince : [while chasing Farah]  Is this necessary?

    The Prince : Yes!

The Dark Prince : You're sure?

    The Prince : [annoyed]  Yes!

The Dark Prince : Fine! Waste your valuable time rescueing the Princess! I can only imagine what the Vizier is doing right now. Probably expanding his army, torturing innocent citizens, deciding what kingdom to conquer next! What he *should* be doing is dying!

The Prince : I have *not* forgotten my mission.

The Dark Prince : Could've fooled me.

  • The Dark Prince : I really expected quite a bit more from you. On the Island of Time you were so focused, so dedicated.

    The Prince : So selfish...

The Dark Prince : Nonsense! You were simply trying to protect what was yours! Where's the harm in that?

The Prince : Look around! All of this destruction is *my* doing!

  • The Dark Prince : Traipsing through a brothel while your city falls apart! That's not what I call heroic.

The Prince : I am here for Farah.

The Dark Prince : You're not here for her, you're here for you! She made you feel guilty and you hope to prove her wrong! Your reasons for being here are hardly selfless.

The Prince : You do *not* know my motives, and you do *not* know me!

The Dark Prince : I *am* you. And the sooner you realize it, the better.

  • The Prince : [upon turning into the Dark Prince the first time]  What have I become? A Sand Monster?

The Dark Prince : Call it what you will, Prince, but you have been given the ability to destroy your enemies. Now use it!

The Prince : [while fighting Sand Creatures]  What benefit is this? Even as I fight them, I grow weaker!

The Dark Prince : Kill them then! Let their lives replenish yours. Feels good, does it not? Lead them into the light!Strike them when they are blind!

  • The Prince : [after turning back into his normal self after walking through water]  It's gone now! Water seems to fight this corruption. Why did you hide this from me?

The Dark Prince : What? And ruin all the fun?

  • [the Dark Prince tries to transport himself through a Sand Portal, but the sand is absorbed by the Dagger of Time]

The Prince : Wha... What's happening?

The Dark Prince : [sarcastically]  Well, that certainly went according to plan, did it not?

    [sigh]

The Dark Prince : You really should know by now that entering portals made of sand only leads to trouble.

The Prince : I will simply have to resort to a more traditional form of transportation.

The Dark Prince : Hopefully with greater success.

  • The Dark Prince : [in a chariot]  Are you sure you can control this thing?

The Prince : Let us hope. If I crash, it is the end for both of us.

  • The Prince : [while hearing citizens being tortured below]  I should do something!

The Dark Prince : Go ahead! Fall to your death! That will be of great use to them.

  • Mahasti : You missed your time! The Vizier has already begun to transform the women I imprisoned! You buy yourself hours at best!

The Prince : [he knocks Mahasti over the edge of the rooftop]  If I had some sands for every time someone said that to me.

[a cloud of sand comes to him from Mahasti's corpse]

The Prince : Oh! I do!

  • [the Prince has become the Dark Prince]

The Prince : I assume that this is not permanent...?

The Dark Prince : It is, if you want it to be...

The Prince : I do not.

The Dark Prince : But you will...

  • The Prince : Why is it that every time disaster strikes, I find myself without a proper blade? Still, it's better than nothing.

  • The Dark Prince : [sarcastically]  How convenient. A burning building full of people waiting to be rescued.

The Prince : What do you mean?

The Dark Prince : I mean it sounds like a trap.

    The Prince : Ridiculous.

The Dark Prince : Is it? If I was an enraged Sandgod intent on killing you, and you'd have already slain two of my lieutenants, well, I would be inclined to use a less direct approach. One that exploits your "newfound compassion".

The Prince : Trap or not, these people need me.

The Dark Prince : No good will come of this.

  • The Prince : Do you see now? The change was physical, nothing more.

Farah : Why should I believe you? Everything you have done contradicts this. I have seen the way you hunger for combat, you take pleasure in creating death. Your constant talk of bloody vengance, your cold disregard for your own people, you heard the women in the brothel as clearly as I did, yet you turned away.

The Prince : But I came back... I came back. For you...

Farah : You are a Prince in title only. Go and reclaim your throne. But know this, you do so alone.

The Dark Prince : You certainly have a way with women. Those that don't get killed can't get far enough away from you.

  • Farah : Incredible. I have only heard stories of such marvels. But to see one up close... Is there not a similar device in Azad?

The Prince : This lift will bring us to the throne room. But wonder of wonders it seems to have stopped working, I'll try to return it to life.

Farah : I do hope to visit Azad some day...

  • The Dark Prince : Once again you have denied us victory. How many times did I warn you that no good would come of pursuing that girl? We would not be in this situation if you had just stayed focused.

The Prince : Enough! All you do is taunt and insult me. I don't know what your plans are, but I do know that i do not trust you. And I'm ashamed that I ever did.

The Dark Prince : I have nothing but noble intentions.

The Prince : I understand now what it means to be noble. And you are none of those things.

The Dark Prince : You self righteous bast...

The Prince : Enough, be silent and let me complete my task, and then we shall see what to do with you.

The Dark Prince : Oh yes, I forgot who was really in charge.
