Bad Visual, Unexeptional acting, was there a plot?
mongoose__4928 May 2006
Well if you can get past the bad, flashy computer game visuals, the backyard style fight scenes, actors with little or no guidance, having to deliver a script that sucks then this isn't the worst zombie movie you'll have ever seen.

Well that might be a little harsh, despite all those draw backs its probably not the worst zombie movie ever, but its pretty darn bad.

I watched the first 15 mins then flashed through to the middle hoping for a change in effects/better script, no luck and it continued in badness right to the end.

I wouldn't waste your time with this one, especially if you haven't see land of the dead, 28 days later, or sean of the dead all classic successful zombie movies to me.

It insults you, but does so with a smile

Warning: Spoilers
I'm almost tempted to call this the worst film I've ever watched. But I won't. Infestation is certainly feeding from the bottom of the barrel, but for reasons I can't explain it clings to me like a malnourished puppy and I can't bring myself to hate it.

Casting is hit-and-miss. There are some reasonable performances to be found, the soldiers do quite well to come across as intended. As a comedy lead Ross Evison (Loki) does very well. Should 'a thrilling mix of science fiction, action and horror' have a comedy hero? Evidently so.

Try to think of Infestation as a very poor (penniless) man's Evil Dead. Don't take it seriously. Appreciate it as a C-movie. Don't be surprised at the wobbly floating aeroplane. Nod along with the awkward dialogue. Allow yourself a laugh at the explosions that someone has quickly drawn with an airbrush tool on an outdated graphics program. Lose yourself wondering where the sides of the CGI buildings went during the flying car chase at the start. And when the end comes, try not to dwell too much on that agonising closing scene.

Don't go out of your way to see it, but if a televised showing finds you on a cold evening, don't necessarily cast it away.

The worst film I ever almost watched!
xbookille11 June 2011
I too managed 10 minutes of this truly dreadful film. The rest I whizzed through on fast forward stopping here and there to marvel at the very un-special effects and the total absence of any acting ability. I feel my sister who bought the film for me was conned, the film was promoted - Best British independent film of blah, blah, the cover was impressive, looked very professional, it had good reviews from believable sounding sources which were obviously paid for (or faked). I think this is the first DVD I have ever thrown in the trash, other films I don't like I would usually try to find a home for with someone else who might appreciate them but I wouldn't give this to my worst enemy. The film was a total waste of money and the 20 minutes or so watching it. It couldn't even be recycled, so bad for the environment as well. Absolutely no redeeming qualities.

Not surprisingly I haven't seen or heard of any of the actors (if you can call them that!) or the director doing anything else.

Waste of your money

Mmmmm... why do I keep doing this? Going to the video-store on Friday evening, and hoping to get my hands on a movie that's worthwhile. Surely this must be the worst movie I've seen in my entire life! I stopped the DVD after 10 minutes, as the complete lack of acting skills and story line was too much horror for me already. What a complete and utter waste of my energy and $4,50! I wouldn't watch this movie again, not even if they offered my a million to watch it! It's absolute 100% rubbish - go and make some real movies guys. We need some more talent in the movie industry, as I'm getting sick and tired of the stuff that's coming out right now.

Painful, hilarious, awful, and much more
Neilos6 January 2011
I don't quite know where to begin with this one - or what to rate it. Honestly, the film is absolutely appalling - the acting is probably the worst I've ever seen, and I've seen some shockers. The casting seems to have been done by a poorly-entered raffle. The script and dialogue is excruciatingly poor. And while some of the special effects are pretty good, parts are cringeworthy. If a failing first-year film student found a camera, a Soviet-era holiday camp and some am-dram stage props, they'd probably produce this.

But it's hilarious. Whether accidentally or not, this produces more laugh-out-loud moments than most comedies. The characters are so ridiculous and mismatched and their deliveries so poor that they left me so entranced, I found myself forgetting to breathe at several points throughout the film. I was simultaneously willing it to end and praying they'd come up with an extra ten minutes.

If you want a good film, this is certainly not for you, and if I'd spent more than GBP2 on it I'd probably cry. But this is at the very pinnacle of 'so bad it's hilarious', so if you see it in Poundland, you could do a lot worse.

Have to give it a 1 because it truly is terrible... but terrible in a good way?

Very Good Low Budget Zombie Movie.
steve-157218 January 2006
I love zombie films, as most readers already know.

I was able to see this film over the Christmas Break while in the UK. This is the first feature film by a small film group from north Wales. The Film was made on an extremely low budget. This is a fact they cover very well.

The story is set in the future after a virus has caused the surviving human race to live underground. The Survivors desperate to find a way back to the surface send teams up to try and find an antidote to the virus. This is where the fun begins.

The films are extremely well made and I think the Directing is superb. The story is not a straight out Zombie movie but throws a few elements in bring this film away from traditional zombie movies.

For such a low budget the zombie makeup is quite realistic and the special effects are extremely well done. I was quite surprised at how realistic some of the effects were.

This is defiantly one of the best Zombie movies of 2005. Though it was over shadows by some big releases in this genre. I was glad to see a low budget movie that was able to give the likes of "Shaun of the dead" and "Land of the dead" a run for there money.

I for one will pick this up on DVD if it is ever released in the US.

Best Zombie movie ever?
neem_numb29 September 2005
It's got the lot, creeping tension, spine jangling terror and incredible action. The sense of menace starts early and builds to the crescendo of explosive violence that you hope for in this kind of movie.

In the aftermath of a biological catastrophe mankind has been forced miles underground into cities built into massive caverns. When a survey team sent on a routine mission to the surface goes missing its up to our heroes Sash and Loki along with their team of misfits to bring them back.

What they find up there is a lurking terror that will change all their lives forever.

Watch it today!

Low Budget Great Value
bobo_tsai17 January 2008
This film was down right fantastic. it starts very well....does not loose pace....the effects are great and the cinematography is sometimes simply stunning. the music is totally original and fits the film really well...a bit spooky and dark.

it's atmospheric funny and creepy as hell - hard to do ..but they've got it. some of the sets are great - real feel of desolation. the scripting is great and there are lots of clever lines and witty banter. granted some of the acting isn't the best - but who cares! all in all its a great film. characters are believable, script is great, cgi is fabulous, cinematography is gorgeous gritty and creepy... what more could you want

does anyone know of anything else these people have done? LC

Good film!
smileandplay200212 November 2006
I just watched Infestation, i really thought it was good!!

The story is thoughtful and has a good structure. Although with a few 'tongue in cheek' scenes, it still manages to pull off some fantastic action scenes!!!

The gore isn't as gruesome as other zombie films but give a great brutal/ thug style of Zombie, but does lack a certain gruesome gore associated and loved with zombie films. I loved the fantastic CGI work!! for those computer game fans it ROCKS!!! and really creates the characters World their faced with, setting off a whole sci-fi/ horror blend genre very effectively!!

Loved it!! Cant wait for the next film by this guy!!

If this is what this team can produce on a low budget, id love to see what they can do on a good budget!!

Surpassed expectations
EBPoncho6 April 2008
I have to admit that I watched this with a presupposition, but the acting was note worthy and the script was awesome! I have yet been surprised by such a great flick since 28 days later. I know this is not the conventional zombie flick but you must give this movie a watch, as it will convince you to continue. Please take my word for this, I am very judgmental and to have my support is very difficult. I would hope that they would be noticed by the big rigs and given a honorable budget, they could definitely create a massive block buster, but I must tell you that the only thing I barely didn't like was the futuristic feel. Everyone knows the big money lies in the realistic styles, as for now, but that can change. They have the best possible script and the best possible actors, except for the guy who says "you have bla bla to set the bomb!" These guys can definitely create a blockbuster given the funds. I didn't think it was possible to deflect my bias about b-flicks, but this movie had me completely ignore the lack of budget as the story was complete and fulfilled all the unknowns to keep me addicted to the very last second! This movie is awesome and I can only hope to see more creativity like this from other films, but I have yet to see a movie surpass my expectations as this one did!

Well done for trying!
cg_regan25 January 2008
Ambitious British sci-fi/action/horror that is clearly reaching far beyond it's meagre budget, but is spirited enough to pull it off.

Tells the story of a future where society now lives in huge underground cities. A group of soldiers are sent to investigate activity on the long dead surface, but find something far worse than they expected.

It shows what you can do with no money and a lot of creativity and maybe if the British film industry actually funded projects like this we'd stand a better chance of making some half-decent films.

The actors may not be perfect, the special effects not as flashy as we're used to in films of the genre but it's got an infectious enthusiasm and a lot of heart so gets full marks for effort.
