Kingsley's experience and memories on the making of an epic
Rodrigo_Amaro7 September 2013
The title says it all. Mr. Kingsley talks about the privilege of playing Gandhi in the biopic that brought him international acclaim and several awards; the importance of being part of such epic project; the assistance he got from many people in India and also some resistance from unwilling individuals who were critical of the film. He melts away with delight while talking about his excellent co-stars such as John Mills, Martin Sheen, Candice Bergen, Trevor Howard, John Gielgud and even Edward Fox, even though they don't share scenes in the picture. But there's no mention on the late Ian Charleson and that's quite sad. A great story he shares with us is about the making of Gandhi's funeral scene, which holds the record for having the largest crowd of extras ever recorded. He was challenged to maintain a serious (dead) expression while everyone kept hitting him constantly with rosebuds.

Lovers of movie trivia will deeply enjoy this short documentary. 9/10
