Sex & Nudity

  • Some talk of sexual issues (the debate everyone engages in is about sexual education) like masturbation, teen pregnancy.
  • 6 or 7 images of the Kama Sutra book.
  • A character talks about oral sex and uses a crude term for it several times.
  • We hear the sounds of two adults having sex.
  • A boy asks another boy if he wants to see a bra and then continues to put one on himself (clothed).
  • Several teen characters are shown kissing.
  • It is implied that a male character is gay.

Violence & Gore

  • The main character throws a cello through the window of a house in a drunken rage. A man trips over a bicycle, and then picks it up and throws it across the lawn in anger.

Profanity

  • One F-word and a few mentions of sex and masturbation. Three middle fingers.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Some of the main characters smoke. An underaged character is shown drinking tequila and becomes drunk.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Parents are shown having a heated, shouting argument in front of their two teenaged sons; the argument ends with the father packing a suitcase and leaving the house. A boy is verbally assaulted by his brother while he is in the shower; the shower curtain is torn down, but there is no physical violence. There are several uncomfortable scenes in which the main character, a stutterer, struggles to get words out.
