A few years ago, George A. Romero‘s long lost 1973 film The Amusement Park was released through the Shudder streaming service in North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It was then given a Blu-ray release. Now, our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that The Amusement Park is getting a graphic novel adaptation that Storm King Comics will be releasing as part of their John Carpenter Presents line! The graphic novel’s full title is John Carpenter Presents George A. Romero’s The Amusement Park, and it’s “an all-new artistic interpretation of the unique film.”
Romero was hired to make The Amusement Park by the Lutheran Society, and it was meant to be a TV PSA on elder abuse. The film was shelved when the Lutheran Society saw how strange and disturbing it was, but thankfully Romero’s fans have the opportunity to watch it now,...

You can never underestimate the power of hearsay. Sometimes, something sounding like it could be true is enough to convince people that it must be. And while this phenomenon can have disastrous real-world consequences when applied to science and politics, it’s also responsible for some memorable instances of collective storytelling.
From hook-handed murderers to gerbils becoming stuck inside famous actors, urban legends are the modern equivalent to ancient campfire stories about werewolves and vampires – which is why it makes sense that they’ve inspired some of most beloved genre films. And with so many of these allegedly “true” stories to choose from, we’ve decided to come up with a list highlighting six of the most underrated movies based on urban legends.
Naturally, we’ll be shying away from more popular films like Candyman and Jamie Blanks’ Urban Legend, but don’t forget to comment below with your own...

Delays are bound to happen when making movies, but something was clearly wrong when Amusement was postponed not once but twice in 2008. It wasn’t long before John Simpson’s American directorial debut was removed from the theatrical schedule altogether and then later dropped on DVD that following year. Although going from the big-screen to direct-to-video is an undeserved fate in some cases, this movie’s new destination was understandable. The unfavorable feedback from an early test screening — the word “disastrous” was tossed around — forced Warner Bros to salvage the potential flop now on its hands. Nevertheless, the negative consensus hasn’t stopped Amusement from amassing a small fan base over the years; its followers focus on this panned movie’s few merits rather than its many shortcomings.
At first, Amusement looks to be an anthology; this horror movie’s first three acts are well defined and almost function as standalone short features.

Just a few days ago we learned that George A. Romero’s planned final entry into his zombie universe, Twilight of the Dead, will come to life under a new director based on the late horror master’s treatment. But first, this summer will bring the release of one of his long-lost films.
The Amusement Park, shot in 1973 for television but never released, has now been recently discovered and restored. Commissioned by the Lutheran Society with the new restoration backed by the George A. Romero Foundation and produced by Suzanne Desrocher-Romero, the Wally Cook-scripted film stars Martin’s Lincoln Maazel as “an elderly man who finds himself disoriented and increasingly isolated as the pains, tragedies and humiliations of aging in America are manifested through roller coasters and chaotic crowds.”
With the 60-minute film now set for a release on Shudder starting June 8, watch the trailer below via Bloody Disgusting.

Haunt is the latest film from writers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place). Produced by Eli Roth (The Green Inferno), Haunt takes place in a side road amusement park. Here, real killers torment their victims, behind closed doors. This horror title stars: Will Brittain (Kong: Skull Island), Katie Stevens (Polaroid), Andrew Caldwell ("iZombie"), Lauryn Alisa McClain and many others. Already slated to show this September, Haunt was shot in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. And, based on the trailer, this horror thriller will host lots of scares. The synopsis does not reveal much. Several friends track down an extreme haunted house. The ride promises to feed on their darkest fears. And, this is one ride where nightmares become real. The use of haunted house rides has been utilized a lot in the horror genre. From Tyler Christensen's House of Purgatory (2016) to the underground Amusement (2008), killers and murderers are always...

Let's just get it out of the way from the beginning: it'd be really hard to make a worse Cabin Fever (2002) sequel than Cabin Fever 2 (2009). Arguably the only weak movie in Ti West's filmography (and he's not a big fan of it himself), Cabin Fever 2 was the victim of endless studio tinkering, release delays, and really sloppy post-production decisions. The sequel has gone on to earn a small but vocal fanbase, however, and Eli Roth's original squirm-fest continues to bring in new horror geeks all the time. So surely there's some gas left in this franchise's tank, right?
Shockingly... yes! That's not to say that the slow-starting, frequently predictable Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero is some sort of miniature classic, but if you liked Part 1 and you struggled through Part 2, you'll certainly find a few meaty morsels of splatter-laden lunacy in Part 3. Based on a couple of moments during the show, I can't help but get the feeling that more than one cast member said at some point this week, "You know, Bruno Mars could be our new Justin Timberlake." Timberlake's quite popular hosting style was obviously the blueprint for the evening: Timberlake was even mentioned during the monologue and Mars starred in a sketch that Timberlake had previously performed. Admittedly, I was dreading this show. Musical performers who are thrust into hosting duties have a, let's say, mixed history of success. But, yeah ... maybe Bruno Mars (with a little help from Tom Hanks) really is the next Justin Timberlake? (Ok, not quite, yet.) So, the host was great, what about the sketches? That is a slightly more complicated answer. In other words: Bruno Mars was the best host of the season, but this was not the best show of the season.

Director John Simpson's Amusement was largely overlooked upon its release in 2008. Which is a shame, because the film deserves better. Choose is a film from director Marcus Graves, which premiered at the 2010 Frightfest Halloween All-Nighter in Leicester Square (Quiet Earth). Recently, the film was released on DVD in the United Kingdom through G2 Pictures. The film stars some notables such as Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects), Bruce Dern (Monster) and Katheryn Winnick (Amusement). Each actor does their best to sell a tense thriller, but the musical work of Nathan Larson is what creates much of the tension. The story brings back the ancient Jewish law of an eye for an eye for eye, or in this case a life for a life, in what is a mostly solid thriller.
Winnick plays Fiona, a woman stalked by a masked killer. Before the final confrontation, several appearingly random people are subjected to torture and dismemberment, with few actual choices. The connections become clearer later on,...

Horror remakes are definitely the hot new trend in Hollywood and I had no idea just how many remakes were being planned until I sat down and drew up a list of as many as I could find. I stopped at 7 pages and needless to say it seems that just about every movie you can imagine is getting a remake-prequel or reboot into 3D.
Here is a pretty complete list of upcoming horror remakes as of today in alphabetical order. Note: There are a few on this list that are only in the early phases of discussion and in some cases I included franchise reboots as well.
13 Tzameti: Starting the list off 13 Tzameti is more thriller then horror but still worthy of making the list. The film which started filming in New York awhile back will star Mickey Rourke and Jason Statham. The original film is a tale of Russian roulette with gruesome outcomes.

It's been a while since we last spoke about Robert Legato's chiller Choose, and with the European Film Market gearing up, it seems that the flick is finally ready to seek distro.
In Choose Katheryn Winnick (Amusement) stars as a young woman who is stalked by a killer nicknamed "Scarlip" (Nicholas Tucci). Bruce Dern and Kevin Pollak co-star.
Check out the full plot crunch below.
Synopsis
The peace and tranquility of an idyllic, suburban city is suddenly broken. Behind the picket fence and manicured lawn, teenage Sara awakens startled as a rush of cold air gently pushes her bedroom door open. Across the hall her parents' bedroom door lies ajar. She calls for her parents--no response. She enters their bedroom, and as her eyes adjust to the darkness, she sees her parents on the bed hog-tied and gagged. Before she can react, she is grabbed roughly by the hair and slammed against the wall.

Hello hello, the Coroner here with another installment of the Report, this time focusing on the direct to DVD and Blu-ray Amusement. The film is writer Jake Wade Wall's first foray into something original, he previously penned the remakes of The Hitcher and the atrocious When a Stranger Calls. Working with his own material, Wall does a decently good job, though with obvious flaws. Director John Simpson is similarly inexperienced, but manages to craft a pretty good movie with one section that is absolutely awesome. This little film came out a good while ago and I've been meaning to catch up with it for months now. The cover is a spooky clown and it stars a couple of women, I mean how bad can it be? The story is broken up into basically three sections. The first serves as an introduction to our killer as he does what he does best - look kind of nerdy...

Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures is remaking a pair of European horror films. "Anguish" - a remake of the 1987 Spanish pic that was written and directed by Bigas Luna, and the Danish movie "Room 205." "Anguish" follows two girls who, while watching a scary movie, find themselves in a horror film of their own when their life starts to mirror the pic's plot. Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls, The Hitcher, Amusement) penned the screenplay. Ghost House has tapped "Room 205" director Martin Barnewitz to helm the English-language remake, which is being redubbed "The Dorm." Story centers on a college freshman who moves into a dorm only to find that her room is haunted by sinister forces. Stephen Susco, who wrote "The Grudge" and "The Grudge 2," is adapting.

Chicago – We apologize to the people behind these four titles but the star power is a little dim in this edition of HollywoodChicago.com’s DVD Round Up. When a canceled vampire series is arguably the biggest release in a four-pack of titles, it’s a weird edition of the Round Up. Prepare yourself.
“Amusement,” “City of Ember,” “College,” and “Moonlight”. A straight-to-dvd horror movie, a TV series cancelled after one year, and two movies that barely opened in theaters and made a Combined $13 million in domestic gross. These titles are for specialized audiences but that’s why we love the Round Up. Enjoy.

Enjoy.

I don’t really think that either the writer (Jake Wade Hall, The Hitcher) or director (John Simpson, Freeze Frame) of Amusement would take it as much of an insult if they heard me say that the film delivered exactly what it promised. I took one look at the DVD box, and presumed that this was going to be a film about a weird guy with some sort of clown fixation who killed off young, attractive women for reasons that really only make sense to him. I wasn’t too far off. The film opens with vignettes(kind of Creepshow-style) of three young women: Shelby (Laura Breckenridge), who is driving home on the highway with her boyfriend; Tabitha (Katheryn Winnick), who is babysitting her two nephews (real-life brothers Preston and Brennan Bailey); and Lisa (Jessica Lucas), who is looking for her missing room-mate. They’re unconnected, or are they? Well,...

Three former childhood friends -- Tabitha (Katheryn Winnick), Lisa (Jessica Lucas) and Shelby (Laura Breckenridge) -- find themselves at the mercy of a madman obsessed with terrifying them for his own personal amusement. One by one they are trapped within his spacious industrially gothic lair and if they don't play his game he might just decide the whole lot of them are better off dead. On and off the theatrical calendar for over a year, thanks to Warner Bros.' internal absorption of New Line and Picturehouse the horror-thriller Amusement makes its premiere on DVD in all its completely unoriginal glory. Granted, this little Saw meets "The Twilight Zone" wannabe has its effective moments, with a couple of moments burrowing under my skin far more than I'd expected them to, but Jake Wade Wall's screenplay is every bit as asinine and as mind-numbingly idiotic as his ones for remakes...

For My Bloody Valentine screenwriters Todd Farmer and Zane Smith, penning a script for a movie to be shot in the latest, most hi-tech version of 3-D yet did not pose any particular challenges. Nor did it call for them to dream up especially imaginative death scenes…at first.
“Certainly not initially,” says Farmer, whose previous credits include 2001’s Jason X and 2007’s The Messengers. “At first, we concentrated on characters and plot, because that’s really what we want to do. I mean, we’re all horror fans, so we’ve seen how some genre films have not pulled these things off. We wanted to tell an intriguing story, we wanted to have intriguing people—that was the first thing.
“But then I would be working on that aspect of it, and I would get a call in the middle of the night from my director,” Farmer continues, glancing over at the man himself,...

The official site for Amusement, the long-delayed anthology from Warner Bros, has finally opened its doors to the public, offering up new images and more information for the film which is skipping its planned theatrical release and going straight to DVD on January 20th.
The story follows three women who are stalked by a psycho from their past who they believed had long forgotten about them. Now a sick series of games are played on the three girls, along with other hapless victims, as the killer finally gets some long-delayed retribution.
Jake Wade Wall (When a Stranger Calls redux) penned the film, which was directed by Freeze Frame helmer John Simpson. Some of the images on the site are pretty cool, I have to admit; I just hope the film itself was worth the wait. Check out the official Amusement site here for more!

Some goods news and some bad news. The bad news is that the long delayed Amusement won't be hitting theaters. The good news is that it'll be available on DVD and Blu-ray on January 20th from Warner Home Entertainment (where's my Trick 'R Treat?!). Keir O'Donnell, Katheryn Winnick, Laura Breckenridge, Jessica Lucas, Tad Hilgenbrinck all star in the film directed by John Simpson. Jake Wade Wall's script centers on a traumatized woman who's questioned by a cop and a psychiatrist about three stories -- involving a clown, a hotel and a convoy -- that involve her and two of her female friends from childhood.
