In the summer of 1994, when Brooks Elms was 22 years old, he made Snapshots, leading a cast and crew of more than 50 people on a 30 day shoot that spanned: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and New Jersey, all for less than $65,000.
Brooks Elms and co-writer Mark Cirino were roommates at NYU film school with Eli Roth, who later directed Cabin Fever and Hostel. Eli has a classic cameo in the last party scene of the film where he picks his teeth as he crosses the frame.
Brooks Elms, co-writer Mark Cirino and Director of Photography, Cody Goldberg all played on the NYU soccer team together. When Elms sent Goldberg the script to see if he was interested, Goldberg replied "I'm in it too much *not* to shoot it!"
The photography instructor is played by Brooks Elms' former teacher, the legendary NYU film professor, Boris Frumin.
Mickey Zanno, who plays Lou The Trainer, parked cars near the building where Brooks Elms lived. Elms liked him so much as a person that he asked him to read for the part. Soon after production Zanno was deported back to his home county of Cyprus because of an enormous stack of unpaid New York City parking tickets.
