Johnny Depp
Adam Sandler
Will Smith
Tom Hanks
The Ladies:
Angelina Jolie
Sarah Jessica Parker
Jennifer Aniston
Reese Witherspoon

Listen, I'm not here to talk to you about who makes how much money for what and isn't it a mockery of a sham that actors are paid as much as they are when teachers get paid in Starbucks gift cards. (It is, they do.) I'm not even here to talk about the shocking difference between the highest paid actor and the highest paid actress. If you want to goggle over the giant vaults of swimmable gold these people are pulling down, you...

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker is reportedly in talks for a top job in the fashion industry - as the creative director for American design house Halston Heritage. The actress reached fashion icon status after starring in hit U.S. TV series "Sex and the City" playing shoe-loving Carrie Bradshaw, and went on to create the affordable apparel line "Bitten" for Steve & Barry in 2007. The line was discontinued in 2008.
Now Parker is negotiating a high-ranking role with Halston's newest collection, according to Women's Wear Daily. The company has yet to release details about the actress' new position.
Sarah Jessica Parker, who has played in several movies including "Failure to Launch", "Spinning Into Butter" and "Did You Hear About the Morgans?", has released her own fragrance called "Lovely" in 2005 and launched her second perfume "Covet" in 2007 after a huge success from the first one. Additionally, she has outed a series of three...

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Star Trek (Original Series) - The Complete First Season I have watched about five of the first season episodes on Paramount's Blu-ray release of the original "Star Trek" series and as expected they look phenomenal, just as they did when I reviewed the HD DVD edition of the first season. However, gone is the bulky packaging, and the set has been cut down to seven discs instead of ten, both details are fantastic news. As far as differences, the main absence is a 90-minute documentary called "Star Trek: Beyond the Final Frontier" and there isn't an included booklet of any kind. However, improved menus, on the fly switching between the enhanced versions and the original effects is an impressive addition even if you only check it out once or twice. Overall, I think this is a must own, but...

Guest of Cindy Sherman This documentary sounds fascinating. It's about Cindy Sherman, the famous multihyphenate artist, but it's also about the awkward "plus one" status of those who date people exponentially more famous than themselves. Directed by a former boyfriend of Cindy's, the artist Paul H-o.
American Swing a documentary about the swingers movement in tumultuous 70s New York
The Education of Charlie Banks is a coming of age tale set in upstate New York in the 80s. Jesse Eisenberg, so great in both Roger Dodger and The Squid and the Whale, stars. Is he about to break through to wider fame? This would be the year to do it. He's got about approximately nine pictures opening in the next 24 months. Craziness. This is Fred Durst's (Limp Bizkit) directorial debut. (Next up for Eisenberg is Adventureland with Kristen Stewart)

Sarah Jessica Parker lets fly with the N-word in the racism drama "Spinning Into Butter," in which frank talk about racial grievances leads to a shrug.
The movie, which has been on the shelf for four years, is set at a Vermont college where the dean (Parker) has to deal with a campus crisis that erupts when a black student receives threats including a noose hanging outside his window. Mykelti Williamson plays a reporter who, like the dean, came seeking refuge from Chicago -- in both...

This week's biggest release without a doubt is the Dreamworks animated film Monsters vs Aliens, which will probably outgross every other movie by sheer volume alone: the 3-D movie is opening in over 4000 theatres! Also out this weekend (with a slightly smaller target audience) is the WWE action film 12 Rounds and also the demonic horror flick The Haunting in Connecticut. In select theatres, you can check out the documentary American Swing, and the Amy Adams/Emily Blunt comedy Sunshine Cleaning which has expanded to a bunch more screens. What will you be checking out this weekend? On this week’s show, Alison and Jeffrey will be reviewing six films: “Monsters vs. Aliens,” “The Haunting in Connecticut,” “Knowing,” “The Education of Charlie Banks,” “American Swing” and “Spinning Into Butter.” They will also take a look at the film “Guest of Cindy Sherman” as this week’s websclusive review.
Alex Proyas’ sci-fi thriller “Knowing” hit it big at the box office, but this week, “Monsters vs. Aliens” may give it a run for its money. The 3D animated film focuses on a team of oddities including Susan (Reese Witherspoon), a 50-foot tall woman, B.O.B. the blob (Seth Rogen), The Missing Link (Will Arnett) and Dr. Cockroach (Hugh Laurie) who try to stop the alien Gallaxhar (Rainn Wilson) from taking over the Earth. If you prefer the complete opposite of a fun-loving animated feature, you may want to see “The Haunting in Connecticut.” It’s a horror...

A cursory look at the filmography of writer-director Ramin Bahrani -- and by "cursory," I mean one not involving actually viewing any of his films -- will suggest to many that he's the kind of filmmaker who specializes in the oft-dreaded Movie That Is Good For You. His films invariably deal with cross-cultural exchange, or lack thereof; his characters are strangers in strange (albeit torn-from-today's-headlines) lands. They are immigrants looking for ways of belonging, foreigners trying to make peace with their obscure pasts and other species of societal outcasts. A possible précis for Bahrani's latest picture, "Goodbye Solo," wouldn't have to try terribly hard to make it sound like a cross between "Driving Miss Daisy" and Kiarostami's "A Taste of Cherry." The picture, set in Winston-Salem (where Bahrani himself was born) tells the story of an unlikely friendship between a cheery Senegalese cab driver named Solo (Souleymane Sy Savane) and a super-gruff,...

New York -- Screen Media Films has picked up Sarah Jessica Parker's racially charged drama "Spinning Like Butter" for North American distribution.
Parker produced and stars in director Mark Brokaw's adaptation of the Rebecca Gilman play. She portrays a liberal New England college dean forced to confront hidden prejudices and political correctness when one of her few black students (Paul James) receives anonymous racist letters. Mykelti Williamson, Beau Bridges and Miranda Richardson also star.
"Butter" ran into financial problems during its late-2005 shoot, leaving cast and crew members temporarily unpaid. Screen Media president Robert Baruc said producers and the film's Icm sales reps helped resolve the issues before he and his executive vp David Fannon sealed the high-six-figure deal.
Baruc will launch the "Butter" with a first-quarter 2009 theatrical release in New York, Los Angeles and five other U.S. cities, then decide on a platform strategy.

Parker Movie Out of Money
Sarah Jessica Parker's film Spinning Into Butter has suffered a "financial glitch" - leaving its cast and crew unpaid and furious. The Sex And The City star, who has given creative input to the project, was horrified to hear of the problem and is desperately trying to sort the situation out. Her spokeswoman says, "(Parker) was made aware of the situation over the holiday and she's very upset." The film's producer Norman Twain adds, "She's using whatever influence she can to get the situation taken care of. There has been a temporary financial glitch, but everything will be taken care of by the end of the week."...
