Sex & Nudity

  • In the first episode, Nightmare, you go into the cabin having successfully turned on the power, and your wife tells you that she's upstairs, and that she has a surprise for you. When you go upstairs, her jeans are on the railing. Going into the bedroom, she's sitting on the bed in a tank top and panties. She then says that it's not her, that it's in the study.

Violence & Gore

  • A scene where the protagonist comes across another man sitting on a floor against a wall with his leg badly wounded, it appears to be broken and there is blood. The protagonist briefly acts disturbed seeing this.
  • Some bloody wounded people and dead bodies in pools of blood. However it's fairly infrequent.
  • A man is shown putting a gun to his head as a science experiment and then accidentally shooting himself. We hear a loud gunshot and the classes shocked reaction along with noises of viscera hitting the floor.
  • A man is violently killed with an axe offscreen. We see the man swinging the axe and hear the sounds of the man being murdered. This is intense and is during the opening however there's only brief blood splatter.
  • A man is seen injured with blood on his hand and serious head injury. There's large blood splatter on the window behind him but it's black due to the dim lighting in the scene.
  • In one cutscene, after you've run into a cabin, the possessed hitchhiker appears and stabs a character in their throat. It is not shown, however, as it cuts to Alan wincing in the cabin.
  • Once you destroy the shield of darkness that enemies have, light bursts out of their bodies, indicating that they are now vulnerable.
  • You acquire many weapons in the game, and must shoot enemies to kill them.
  • Enemies wield weapons, such as axes, butcher knives, etc. When they hit you, there is no blood, but you do lose health and a red bar appears where they hit you, like in most games.

Profanity

  • Moderate uses of mild language, such as shit, bastard, bitch/son of a bitch, hell, damn/goddamn and ass/asshole.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • Use of alcohol and smoking throughout the game.

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • Some cutscenes can get intense or frightening, but gore is never shown onscreen. The worst the violence gets is people dying with blood splattered around them.
  • The game is very atmospheric. You often traverse through rural areas, such as dark forests.
  • When enemies talk, it is distorted. Their vocal range fluctuates from deep to high rapidly, and they often shout at the player.
  • Enemy's appearances can be frightening to some.
