  • Continuity: When Jackie swims in the beach and is warned by Alex that she looks like she is losing her top she is wearing a large gemstone necklace. When she covers herself with her arms after losing her top, the necklace has disappeared.

  • Continuity: When Alex says he only cares about the waves and runs out into the ocean, he runs away without zipping up his wetsuit. In the next shot of his back, his wetsuit is zipped up.

  • Plot holes: The major plot line of the film is that Jackie is turning to pairs skating because she can no longer do a Triple Axel Jump. However the lack of a Triple Axel Jump would not harm a female singles skater's chances at winning since very few women actually include the jump in competition.

  • Plot holes: The original "The Cutting Edge" was set in the year 1992. If Kate and Doug had married right after the Olympics and had Jackie nine months later, their daughter would only be age 14 at present. Jackie Dorsey is portrayed as a twenty something character in the movie.

  • Factual errors: The "Chicago" skyline shown at Chapter 8 0:51:14 - 0:51:17 prior to the "Northeast Regionals" is actually the skyline of Seattle. The Kingdome in the fore-ground, the space needle in the background and the Columbia tower in the middle are clearly visible.

  • Miscellaneous: They use the exact same clip twice in a row, "Jackie, turn around" while Jackie is going after Alex on the surfboard.

  • Continuity: When Alex first runs into the surf in his first scene he is wearing his necklaces and bracelets. When he first comes out of the water, they are gone, but then they are back again when he talks to Scott.

  • Continuity: When Alex walks into the kitchen after the "shower scene" he has his jacket under his arm. During the time he is eating his banana, it disappears.

  • Crew or equipment visible: After Jackie leaves Alex alone at the bar after winning the Nationals short program you can see his microphone clipped inside his striped shirt.

  • Factual errors: The scoring system used in this movie is incorrect. The 2005 World Championships was the first competition to use the new 10.0 scoring system as opposed to the former 6.0 scores. This movie was released in 2006 and reportedly takes place at the 2006 Nationals and 2006 Olympics in Torino, but uses the 6.0 scoring system. Even if filming began before the scoring changes were announced, the score visuals could have been re-shot and score announcements re-dubbed before release.

  • Factual errors: Kate tells Jackie her that no pairs do side by side triples in competition. In 2006, all top level pairs teams would have to include a side by side triple to be competitive. Side by side triples have been commonplace in senior level pairs figure skating since the early '90s.

  • Errors in geography: The "Northeast regionals" are supposedly taking place in Chicago (as evidenced by another mistake on this site). However, Chicago is in the Midwestern region, not the Northeastern region.
