Confusing plot and no redeeming factor (SPOILERS)
jgglborges27 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Federal is movie set mainly around the satellite cities of the Brazilian Federal District where the capital is located. Though the movie is supposed to be set at Brasilia, it barely ever takes place in the capital except for a few skyline shots and scenes that take place inside of the homes of the federal policemen in attempts to make them seem more human by showing that they have families. But what really makes this movie awful to experience is the fact that there is absolutely no redeeming factors; there is almost no character development, the female character that speaks the most says about 5 complete sentences, the plot is confusing (thanks to the movie trying to fit in all the bland character backgrounds), there is no payoff at the end, the main characters just simply decide to kill each other without much of a reasonable motivation and, the only main character that survives the whole movie is the least memorable with no remarkable features and most forgettable name.

Federal Police!!

My Older brother always giving me bad movies, this time on Blu-ray at least, this production is very ambitious bringing Michael Madsen to encrease this weak plot and without purpose, the main character Carlos Alberto Riccelli is a good actor, however several clichés became this picture nonsense at all, actually Brasilia wasn't a propper place to make a movie like this, there are many place like Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo where has a strong matter about dealer's drugs, even with good casting the whole thing sunk!!!

Brazilian federal police investigation movie.
iradao5 November 2010
The story is about a Brazilian police crew, composed of Federal, Military, and Civilian policemen (Brazil has different police forces). They try to take down an international drug dealer, called Beque. To do so they have the help of a DEA agent, played by Michael Madsen.

The plot scenery is Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, a city in the mid-west of the country. But Brasilia does not have the drug problem as it is in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and some shooting scenes seem quite unlikely.

Although the police has helped in many scenes, the production of the action scenes are not very realistic and aren't so exciting as the famous Brazilian movie Elite Squad. Federal is a smaller production and the technical details are not so sophisticated. In some scenes the image looses focus and some actors with smaller roles are not very well prepared to movies. Too bad that the superb actor Andre Amaro has only a small role, as the reverend.

Unfortunately the plot has some small holes, but the overall of the movie is good. In my opinion the end makes a counterpoint with the ending of Elite Squad I.

The original music, by the experienced Eugenio Matos, is very well done and works fine, with the use of some Brazilian sonority instruments.

In the vein of Elite Squad and Special Operations
blrnani3 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
(spoiler alert) The capital, Brasília, is the location for this film about the battle between the police and organized crime in this huge country. The heroes are 4 very different members of a specially selected elite police squad (the Feds). The oldest is played by Ricelli, whose experience goes back to the days of the military government, the youngest by Mello, who over the course of the film loses a lot of his innocence and idealism, as he sees the damage done to his country by criminal activity at all levels of society and his colleagues are struck down, one by one. Experienced yet under-rated US actor Michael Madsen plays a DEA official who goes bad, to set up his retirement fund, and shows no embarrassment or remorse whatsoever. And Colombian actress and former beauty pageant winner Carolina Gómez has a sexy role as a Venezuelan diplomat with a wild side (in her circles, everybody knows who the drug people are and where to find them, but don't denounce them because the product fuels their lifestyle). And that's the basic problem - while there's a wealthy market there will always be suppliers and influential people making money off it.
