I'm a big Andy Griffith fan, so I was excited to discover what I thought was a new documentary on the show. Then, when I played it, I realized this was a comedy and started to feel the video was a mockery of the show and all that is so great about "The Andy Griffith Show." I resisted to urge to stop watching and found it growing on me. In the end, I could tell Alan Smithee is clearly a great fan of the show.
There was a lot of stuff on the program. Some parts were better than others. The Braille subtitle track was funny as a single joke, but they carried it all the way through, which seemed pointless. The unaired pilot for "Mayberry, U.S.A." was hilarious.
If you're a true resident of Mayberry, and you give it a little time, you'll love this show. Some of the jokes are so inside, only a die-hard fan will get them -- I had to watch some parts twice to catch something I missed. I'm not sure how funny this will be to people who don't love "The Andy Griffith Show," because I'm not one of those people.
