"He was one of the best character artists this industry ever had. He was sincere, extremely hardworking and very supportive. I'm extremely upset that he is no more, but I also take the credit for introducing him to the industry through my film," producer Mahendar told Ians.

Mumbai, July 20: Actor Girish Kumar, who makes his Bollywood debut with "Ramaiya Vastavaiya", felt awkward when he saw the audience whistling for him at a theatre here.
"It feels weird that people are whistling for you. I'm happy that the audience is liking my work. I feel quite different, it doesn't seem like I am seeing myself on the screen, but some other actor. It feels like an out-of-body experience," the 23-year-old said here Friday at a theatre.
"Ramaiya Vastavaiya" is a remake of Prabhudheva's directorial debut, Telugu blockbuster "Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana". It released Friday.
The Hindi version too is helmed.

Yet again Prabhu deva comes up this week with a South movie remake – his debut Telugu movie by the way – with Girish Kumar-Shruti Haasan starrer Ramaiya Vastavaiya. A rehash of Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, which itself was inspired by Maine Pyaar Kiya, this rich boy-poor girl done to death saga has very little new to offer and comes off as a disappointing affair.
The story is extremely predictable – America returned Ram and gaon ki chori Sona meet at a wedding and after being at loggerheads for some time, fall in love with each other. Of course this does not go down well with lover boy’s parents who want him to get married to another rich girl selected by the mom. After getting insulted by his relatives, Sona and her very protective brother Raghu (Sonu Sood) return to their village. Ram who comes to know of this later, follows Sona...

Debutant actor Girish Kumar speaks with Sunny Malik about his first film Ramaiya Vastavaiya. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the film, which opens Friday, also stars Shruti Haasan for the remake of “Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana”, which was inspired by the 1980s cult Hindi film “Maine Pyaar Kiya”.
You are producer Kumar Taurani’s son… Was acting always something you wanted to do?
Yes, absolutely. Acting was always something I wanted to do. As you said, my father is a producer and I grew up in this environment. When I finished school, I told my father that this is something I want to do. I was about twelve or thirteen and wasn’t taken seriously. However, I was serious about it and took some acting courses and action classes. My father saw that I was ready to put the effort in and told me that he will give me a launch in his home production.

Life has come a full circle for Vinod Khanna and Randhir Kapoor. 38 years after Prakash Mehra's Haath Ki Safaai, they're coming together again in Prabhu Dheva's Hindi remake of his Tamil hit Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana. The veterans had played long-lost brothers in Haath Ki Safaai.
Strangely they were never cast together again. It was believed that the two did not have an easy time shooting together for Haath Ki Safaai.

Having watched Vikramarkudu a couple of years back and thoroughly enjoyed it, I was a bit skeptical regarding its Hindi remake. For me, Vikram Rathod could only be Ravi Teja (the role seemed tailor made for him) and I prayed that Akshay would do justice to the characters. My only hope was Prabhu Deva, who has quite an experience with remakes, be it Telugu to Tamil, Tamil to Hindi, Hindi to Telugu…

With southern belles Asin and Genelia d'Souza among the most popular actresses in Bollywood these days, it's only natural that producers would start searching the southern film industries for the next breakthrough star! Sandalwood cutie Pooja Gandhi will be seen with Rahul Bose in the omnibus film I Am and Trisha Krishnan, who won the hearts of the public opposite Siddharth in Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, will soon be seen opposite Akshay Kumar in the Priyadarshan directed Khatta Meeta.
Despite all the crossing-over that these southern beauties are doing recently, the beauty standards are very different in Bollywood. Voluptuous figures like those seen on Namitha are strictly forbidden.
