Wendy Morgan‘s animal welfare docu-drama “Mercy” has been picked up by Los Angeles-based distributor All Channel Films, Inc. All Channel Films will represent the film, which premiered at the Awareness Film Festival in October, in the U.S. and Canada across pay and basic cable, video/DVD, VOD/SVOD, PPV and other distribution platforms.
With humans standing in for animals, “Mercy” lifts the lid on the more unpalatable side of the meat industry as told though the eyes of a pig named Mercy as she goes from a factory farm to a slaughterhouse. Maria Austin (“The Reverend and Mrs. Simpson”) plays Mercy alongside Annette Badland (“Ted Lasso”), Mark Wingett (“Quadrophenia”) and Morgan (“Mrs. Lowry and Son”), who wrote and directed the film.
“One of my goals was to bring ‘Mercy’ to North American audiences to raise awareness about the film’s disturbing but important subject matter,” said Morgan.

From the mind of Anees Bazmee and produced by Bhushan Kumar comes Pagalpanti… a light- hearted comedy about madness at all levels. Whether it’s the 3 idiots at the centre of the story, the women who love them or their seemingly incompetent bosses, everyone in this film is taking a break from serious motifs to have a bit of fun and give audiences an all-around fun time. Anees Bazmee having had many successes with similar films such as No Entry and Mubarakan, has brought together quite the star cast for this purpose and similarly for the 5 short songs of this film has not failed to pull in some very talented music directors in Yo Yo Honey Singh, Tanishk Bagchi, Nyeem-Shabir and Sajid-Wajid.
Pagalpanti opens with a modern take on a perennial favourite from Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya (1998), Tum Par Hum Hai Akte. Neha Kakkar and Mika Singh are an...

I always knew you could find some fun/weird stuff on Google Maps and Street View, but now you can find magical creatures and sorcerers! Both Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Doctor Strange have New York City locations and Google has revealed a special Easter egg for both. Marvel Comics has always pulled from real-world locales for their stories and the Sanctum Sanctorum, Dr. Stephen Strange's home, is one of them. We'll see it in the upcoming Marvel film, but Google (or Marvel, or both) decided to have a bit of fun and let us spot it on a map. Empire Magazine's Chris Hewitt apparently discovered it first, but you need to type "Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum" in order to get the actual name to pop up. Love this. Type 177a Bleecker Street into Google Maps and this shows up. (I think it's actually a grocery...

Credited with Bollywood’s popular laugh riots “No Entry” and “Welcome”, filmmaker Anees Bazmee says comedy is the toughest genre to work on for a writer, and when a movie is loaded with double entendres, it’s merely a “shorcut”.
Of late, the Hindi film industry has witnessed a surge in comedy entertainers, but a sex comedy laced with sexual innuendos seem to be the current favourite flavour. Bazmee is not all for it.
“There are some good comedy films even now, but comedy films which are double-meaning and are a shortcut. I don’t want to make them and I don’t want to watch them. I don’t want to even say whether they are good or bad… My personal choice is to work around buffoonery,” Bazmee told Ians in an interview.

Us in Progress Wrocław 2016 submissions are now open. This little-known event in Poland offers American indie filmmakers one of the biggest opportunities in the world to meet the international trade in an intimate and fun setting. Every year one of the films here seems to make it into Sundance. The filmmakers get to know European buyers, sellers and programmers. Submissions are now open for the sixth edition of the Us in Progress (October 26-29), a co-production forum held in Wroclaw, during 7. American Film Festival. Applications for projects will be open until August 15, 2016. No entry fee is required.

Applications are open for Us-produced narrative feature projects in post-production stage:
• looking for completion money, services and sales agent or European distribution
• projects in post-production when applying, with at least 30 min of the film edited and to reach feature format by the presentation date. If selected, the feature length version of the rough/fine cut will be presented. No excerpts or trailers will be accepted.
• projects with no Us or international premiere nor European sales representation prior to October 2016 are eligible.
To the selected 4-6 projects the organizers will offer:
a flight to Poland for 1 team member and accommodation during 3 day Us in Progress (October 26-29) in Wrocław, Poland

Paris edition submissions have just closed and we are looking forward to receiving your work for Wroclaw edition.
Us in Progress is a joint initiative of the Polish New Horizons Association and the French Champs-Elysées Film Festival (in collaboration with New York-based Black Rabbit Film).
After being called one of '25 Coolest Film Festivals of the World', American Film Festival has been recently placed on the MovieMaker's list of "Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee, 2016". The magazine assures that American Film Festival plays a tight collection of the year's best American indie films, as well as the two-day U.S. in Progress event for works-in-progress (winners receive handy post-production packages). Anees Bazmee could well be heaving a sigh of relief. His Welcome Back has finally released and a gap of four years since Ready (2011), a Rs. 100 crore affair with Salman Khan, has finally been closed. While the Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and John Abraham starrer is also doing fantastic at the Box Office, the maker of Welcome and Singh Is Kinng has now moved on to his next.
"First to go on floors would be Aankhen 2 with Amitabh Bachchan. Yet again, Amitji would have company of three blind men. However, unlike the first in the franchise, they won't be Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal or Paresh Rawal. Instead, new actors would be stepping in," informs our source.
While this would continue the trend of multi-starrers for Anees Bazmee, who has also made No Entry, Thank You and No Problem, the other two films would be a comedy followed by a love story.

Bollywood churns out on average 120 plus films a year, with 2014 reaching 142. So to think all of them will go down in history as being successful is rather naive. But what about the ones we thought would work wonders but came up short? The ones that left us thinking, “Why was this allowed past the editing board”? Even ones that somehow managed to cha-ching the money registers sky high. 2014 had its fair share of films that fit all these categories. BollySpice brings you the biggest disappointments of 2014.

All eyes were set on Tevar as it marked the debut association of the father-son duo, Arjun and Boney Kapoor. However, recently Sanjay Kapoor revealed that he will be producing the film. Apparently, the decision was taken since Boney is busy handling other ventures. Sanjay added that his brother Boney will be tied up with No Entry 2 with Salman Khan and hence in order to avoid clash, he has taken up the project. This film is a remake of Telugu blockbuster Okkadu and will have Arjun reprising the role of a kabbadi player. Tevar is to be directed by debutant Amit Sharma and will have Sonakshi Sinha playing the female lead in the film.
