Mary Ford Yodels
boblipton8 November 2022
Jimmy Wakely and His Oklahoma Cowboys perform while Mary Ford performs the title song.

It's one of more than two thousand "soundies" produced between 1939 and 1947, meant to be played on a device called a Mills Panoram. For seven years they could be found in bars, night clubs, and other places where people would gather. Think of them as music videos, available for viewing at a dime a song.

Jimmy Wakely would go on to become a singing cowboy in the movies towards the end of the decade; although it was the end of the trail for that particular subgenre, he would remain a popular performer for decades. Other well-known performers on hand include Merle Travis and Arthur 'Fiddling' Smith.
