101 Studios has acquired film and TV rights to Paradise Found, the nonfiction book written by Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke about the small town of Paradise, CA, which was ravaged by the Camp Fire of 2018 but which found hope in its high school football team and longtime coach, Rick Prinz. The project, also titled Paradise Found, will be produced by sports film and TV regular Mark Ciardi (The Rookie) of Select Films and executive produced by 101’s David Glasser, David Hutkin and Bob Yari.
Prinz said, “11/8/18 at 8:34 Am I sent this text message to the football team- ‘the plan is to practice at 3:00 today. If it is too smoky, we will modify our activity. I will keep you informed if anything changes.’ Eleven minutes later, we were running for our lives. These young men...

Disney+ movie Togo tells the true story of a musher and his hero dog on an Alaskan tundra trek to deliver serum for an outbreak.
Togo, a fact-based movie about a legendary dog sled run to deliver an outbreak-combatting serum, may have the makings of an inspirationally adventurous family-driven Disney theatrical offering, but the film is instead headed to a device near you as a (non-Mandalorian) offering on streaming platform Disney+.
Four-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe headlines Togo as Norwegian sled rider Leonhard Seppala, sharing top billing with the film’s eponymous character, a 12-year-old hero dog who, despite his advanced age, leads Seppala’s team on a perilous 1925 trek across 674 miles of the Alaskan tundra from Seward to deliver life-saving serum to those suffering from a diphtheria outbreak in Nome.
Ericson Core directed Togo, bringing experience from 2015’s Point Break remake and 2006 Mark Walhberg-headlined Vince Papale biopic Invincible.

Kelly Clarkson amazes us every time she covers hit songs on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Between crooning Sia's "Chandelier" and Post Malone's "Better Now," no genre is off limits for the illustrious American Idol winner. So how does the 37-year-old star choose which tunes to perform? "There are lists that are sent in and submitted from fans. So far, every request has been really cool. [My team] also makes lists," Clarkson told Popsugar over the phone on Nov. 12. "If people say, 'We want you to cover this,' and I've already done the song, we might pick a different song from the same artist." Although all of her performances are top-notch, Clarkson cited her covers of Lizzo's "Juice" and Heart's "Alone" as two of her favorite "Kellyoke" moments.
Tackling other legendary singers is a bit daunting, even for her. Prime example: when she sang "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston.

Oblivion Song, a (non-zombie) apocalypse comic from Robert Kirkman, is getting a movie treatment from studio Universal.
Oblivion Song, an Image Comics title introduced relatively recently, is already set for live-action glory; a notion that makes a lot more sense when you realize that the comic is the creation of Robert Kirkman, the mastermind behind Image’s The Walking Dead and the AMC cable TV franchise it spawned. However, this particular Kirkman adaptation is bound for the big-screen with studio Universal, which is partnering with Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment.
Robert Kirkman will help develop the Oblivion Song movie via Skybound, joined by company cohorts David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst, all of whom will work with Universal’s Jon Mone and Lexi Barta to bring the apocalyptic comic to life. While the director’s chair is still vacant, the script will be penned by an up-and-coming screenwriter in Sean O’Keefe,...

The life of The Longest Yard and Invincible stuntman Darryl Hammond ended in 2017 with the ex-Arena football player suffering from severe head trauma but today his family went after the Walt Disney Company, Paramount, Columbia as well as the Arena Football League (Afl) for negligence, wrongful death and more.
In a jury-seeking, multi-claim complaint, Hammond’s widow and children want wide-ranging but unspecified damages from the defendants for “willfully and intentionally” concealing from the player/stuntman the risks and consequences of such “repetitive head impacts” and “concussions” as sustained over the years.
According to the suit, Hammond was a player in the Afl from approximately 1991-2016 and “suffered symptoms of brain injury” from the head impacts during Afl football games. During this time, he also starred in two feature films. In 2004, he was a stunt double for Paramount and Columbia’s remake of The Longest Yard starring Adam Sandler where...

The Silver Bear will see Michael B. Jordan star as an elite assassin in what could become a film franchise.
Michael B. Jordan might just be on the verge of giving Dwayne Johnson a run for his money as Hollywood’s most ubiquitous action film star. The actor has nabbed a starring role in another prospective action franchise, having just been cast in a Lionsgate film adaptation of the popular novel series, The Silver Bear.
Jordan's casting in The Silver Bear, as reported by Deadline, will see Jordan star as a shadowy assassin who calls himself Columbus but is known as a bit of a boogeyman in the Russian criminal underworld as the assassin, the Silver Bear. The film is based on the initial entry in the novel series of author Derek Haas, who also wrote the screenplays for films like Wanted, 3:10 to Yuma (2007), 2 Fast 2 Furious and Invincible.

Cinemax has decided to cancel Robert Kirkman’s drama “Outcast” after two seasons.
“There are no further plans for ‘Outcast’ at this time,” said a Cinemax spokesperson.
Cinemax had initially showed strong belief in the series, handing out a second season pickup before it even premiered. But the drama was plagued by a shift in strategy at the network. Season two, which didn’t air until two years after its freshman run, wrapped on Sept. 28.
The pilot, written by Kirkman, landed at Cinemax after it was shopped as a spec and developed at Fox International Channels.

Amazon has given a straight to series order to “Invincible,” an animated property from “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman.
Amazon has ordered eight hourlong episodes based on the comic book series of the same name, which revolves around a father and teenage son as the son is taken under his father’s wing for training as a superhero.
Amazon last year set a massive overall development pact with the prolific writer behind “Walking Dead” and other graphic novel franchises.
“Robert has an uncanny talent to predict the zeitgeist, and we are incredibly excited to see him break boundaries in an animated one-hour format,” said Sharon Yguado, head of scripted genre programming at Amazon Studios. “In a world saturated with superhero fare, we trust Robert to subvert expectations while encapsulating a story filled with heart and adrenaline. We love his ambitious plan for the show and believe it will look like nothing else on television.

Co-created by Kirkman and Walker and based on the Skybound/Image comic, Invincible is an adult animated superhero show that revolves around Mark Grayson, a normal teenager except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Nearly a year after moving his overall deal from AMC to Amazon Studios, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has lined up his first new series under the pact and it's a familiar one.
Amazon Studios has handed out a straight-to-series order for an hourlong animated take on Invincible, based on Kirkman's recently concluded comic book of the same name.
Like the comic, the eight-episode "adult animated" Amazon series, from Kirkman and Cory Walker, revolves around Mark Grayson, a normal teenager except for the fact that his father is the most powerful superhero on the planet. Shortly ...

On Wednesday, Michael Jackson's estate issued a statement condemning ABC's special The Last Days of Michael Jackson. "We believe the special to be another crass and unauthorized attempt to exploit the life, music and image of Michael Jackson without respect for Michael’s legacy, intellectual property rights or his children," the statement noted.
The Last Days of Michael Jackson aired on Thursday, and it has other problems the singer's estate failed to identify. The special is rife with trite, clunky segues – "It seemed like the sky was the limit,...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg of "Preacher" fame, continue developing an adaptation of "The Walking Dead" creator Robert Kirkman's bloody, superhero Image Comics series "Invincible":
"For nearly a decade I've had to endure the what about 'Invincible' question, " said Kirkman, "as fans have watched 'The Walking Dead' grow into the multi-media monstrosity it has become.
"The answer was always that we were waiting for the right team to partner with. That team has arrived! The esteemed misters Goldberg and Rogen have proven themselves to be top-notch directors...
"...with a keen collective eye for stunning visuals after slumming it by writing hit after juggernaut hit."
'Invincible' aka 'Mark Grayson', debuted in Images' "Tech Jacket" #1 (November 2002), before headlining a self-titled regular series, in 2003.
Invincible is the teenaged son of 'Omni-Man', an extraterrestrial superhero of the 'Viltrumite' race, who inherited his father's superhuman strength and ability to fly.

With the anticipated horror Death House being released in cinemas on March 2nd, I got a chance to ask actress Lauren Compton about how she became involved in the film, her character Dr. Logan and working with Harrison Smith…
How did you first get into acting?
I was an extra on the set of Mark Whalberg’s movie Invincible (2006) when I was 18 years old. In a roundabout way, I guess you could say I snuck myself into a larger role. Not a much larger role, but I went from being an “extra” to a “featured extra”. My role was an ‘on field photographer’ and in the final cut of the movie I literally appear for a split second during the final football game. I worked on the set during the final few days of production and got to attend the wrap party in Dallas, TX where I met Mark and...
