Captain Andres Lapeteus, Lieutenant Haavik, Major Põdrus, Major Roogas and Sergeant Pajuviidik became acquainted with each other during World War Two in the Red Army, according to the book 'The Case of Andres Lapeteus', the book that the film is based on.
Besides Einari Koppel, other actors were considered into the role of Andres Lapeteus, among them Bruno Oja, Jaan Saul, Heino Raudsik and Rein Aren.
Because of the scenes with Ada Lundver were a bit erotic in their nature, the film was rated unsuitable for youngsters under 16 years.
Ada Lundver has said that she felt she was too young for her role as Reet Lapeteus. She claimed that although Einari Koppel was a magnificent actor, she did not feel freely near him and because of that it was quite difficult for her to play love-scenes with Koppel.
Ada Lundver wanted a body-double for her bed-scenes with Koppel, but director Kromanov did not accept that and managed to convince Lundver that she can do those scenes herself.
