A cultural mirror
Licas-420 September 2005
Maybe, "La Casa De Enfrente" it is the most important effort in the Guatemalan scarce film history. Conceived by the collective group named Casa Comal under the leadership of Elías Jiménez, this film is about a classical corruption tale over the government spheres. The plot moves forward thanks to the dramatically but funny and action parts too, mixed all around the film. If you don't live at Guatemala or Latin America perhaps don't understand plenty this movie but is a fact: Is like a cultural mirror where some of the people find a kind of identity and recognition. If you can find a DVD copy of this picture you can see another –no traditional- face from Central America in terms of drugs, corruption, prostitution, politics and gang (named "maras") issues. Of course, this is very improbable.

Corruption and Prostitution in Guatemala
ireneLM15 March 2006
There are few Guatemalan movies made by year. This one attracted a lot of people because the very appealing theme of corruption, a present problem in Guatemala.

This movie is about Angel, who found the missing of $90 mil in a ministry of Guatemala. The minister contracts a prostitute to seduce Angel in order of avoid him to speak. But Angel and the prostitute fall in love.

Even though the main theme is the corruption in Guatemala, it spends more time in prostitutes' matters.

Almost all the actors aren't professionals, you can notice it from the very beginning of the movie.

This is an adult movie. There is a lot of sexual and nudity images in it.
