Michael Jackson‘s “Smooth Criminal” doesn’t seem too provocative. However, one artistic choice in the song’s music video caused Jackson to leave his religion. He later looked to another celebrity for spiritual guidance.
Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ upset some Jehovah’s Witnesses
Jermaine Jackson was a member of The Jackson 5. In his 2011 book You Are Not Alone: Michael, Through a Brother’s Eyes, Jermaine said the Jacksons were Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian denomination that began in the United States in the 19th century. They call their houses of worship “Kingdom Halls” rather than “churches.”
In 1982, Michael unintentionally upset members of his faith. Some Jehovah’s Witnesses felt that the iconic music video for “Thriller” was Satanic and asked that he not release it. That’s why the video begins with a disclaimer disavowing the occult. Jermaine dismissed the idea that there was anything evil about “Thriller,...

The title is the worst thing about this lively, fun and largely true World War II adventure The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which is inspired by the Damien Lewis book of the same name but extending it to add: How Churchill’s Secret Warriors Set Europe Ablaze and Gave Birth to Modern Black Ops.
Guy Ritchie has taken this story of an illicit black ops crew, mostly of the prisoner variety, who with the permission of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Rory Kinnear) was commissioned and put into action (a ragtag group of warriors if ever there was one) in order to sink, as it were, Nazi Germany’s U-boats operation that had been preventing the U.S. from entering the war in Europe.

Martin Scorsese’s legendary career comprises a series of masterful projects to his name. Not just as a director, his involvement as a producer often ensures the quality of a movie or show that must line up with his reputation. After his highly acclaimed Killers of the Flower Moon, Scorsese found himself in a lawsuit.

When the Apple TV+ series The New Look premiered in February, it brought with it the true stories of Paris-based fashion designers — from Christian Dior to Coco Chanel — navigating the hardships of World War II. Inspector Dave Toschi needs a night off. After years of chasing the so-called Zodiac Killer, Toschi thought he had found his man, only for his captain to shoot him down, citing insufficient evidence to make an arrest. At the movie theater later on, the picture Toschi watches with his wife doesn’t make him feel any better. It’s Dirty Harry, the 1971 movie in which Clint Eastwood‘s Inspector Harry Callahan does battle with a killer called Scorpio.
Frustrated by what he’s seeing, Toschi heads to the lobby for a smoke. As viewers shuffle out after him, one remarks, “Dave, that Harry Callahan did a hell of a job with your case.”
“Yeah, no need for due process, right?” Toschi responds sarcastically to indicate his frustration.
Or, at least that’s how it went in the movies. Specifically, the film Zodiac, written by James Vanderbilt and directed by David Fincher,...

Merry Christmas Movie ft Katrina Kaif & Vijay Sethupathi. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Merry Christmas, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, was one of the first theatrical releases in January this year. The Sriram Raghavan directorial made everyone curious about the story because of the exciting cast. After six years, the director had a theatrical release post-Tabu and Ayushmann Khurrana’s Andhadhun (2018). The film was earlier scheduled to release on December 23, 2023. However, it was then postponed to January 12, 2024.
When Merry Christmas was released in theatres, the film received many positive reviews from critics. Even the movie-going audiences were in awe of Sriram’s new convoluted story and Katrina and Vijay’s impressive performances. If you missed watching the movie on the big screen and are waiting to rewatch it, we have good news. The film has finally got an Ott release date. Read to know more about the romantic thriller in detail.

Exclusive: Rising comedian Paul Elia has set a Christmas Eve premiere date for his debut special, Detroit Player, the first ever shot at the Detroit House of Comedy, which came together over the course of three October tapings. Directed by Elia’s longtime friend Dan Ringey, with whom he previously collaborated on the indie crime thriller Dirty, the special will be available for a month on Mint Comedy.
Elia came to shoot his special after spending years performing stand-up in many unlikely (and awkward) scenarios, in order to pay his rent. He performed in a Dubai mall (and almost got arrested). Soon after, he performed at a private event for Saudi royalty. With Detroit Player, he explores authenticity, censorship and what it means to “hustle” (while avoiding arrests abroad).
Hailing from The LowKey Company & Avesta Entertainment, the special is produced by Bassem Youssef, Azhar Usman and Danny Mooney.

In 1971, Clint Eastwood's Harry Callahan saved San Francisco from a theatrical serial killer while simultaneously establishing the "loose canon" genre of cop movies. "Dirty Harry" saw Andrew Robinson's Scorpio Killer sniping innocent Franciscans before he's taken down by Eastwood's lone wolf cop, in a film that caused significant controversy upon its release with many critics accusing it of being fascist propaganda. As time has gone on, the prevailing view of the film has become much more favorable, and "Dirty Harry" is now considered easily one of the best films of the 1970s, and even 21st century as a whole.
That's a good thing, because despite the fact that Eastwood's cavalier inspector appears to be a walking endorsement of police brutality and extreme right-wing values, the movie as a whole should leave any discerning viewer conflicted and reflective. After all, director Don Siegel obviously went to great lengths...

Some rather strange reports are circulating around the remake of Road House, ranging from the firing of its producer to using AI to finish it.
Hollywood is, of course a buzzing hive of gossip at the best of times, but a particularly strange couple of morsels emerged from Tinseltown on the 30th November. According to a Variety report, veteran producer Joel Silver has been fired from Amazon, the mega corporation which owns film studio MGM.
Before he was (allegedly) ousted, Silver was working on Road House, a remake of the 1989 action thriller which he’d also produced, as well as Play Dirty, a crime thriller starring Mark Wahlberg. Anonymous sources told Variety that Silver was fired for being “verbally abusive” to a pair of female executives.
Named sources close to Silver, meanwhile – private investigator Anthony Pellicano and attorney Bryan Freedman – refute this story. Pellicano says, “The parting of the ways is amicable.

Match #1: Butch & Tyler Bate def. Gallus The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
The Big Strong Boi and The Brawling Brute got some payback on Gallus, and were even joined by a longtime ally. The Gallus boys used the numbers game to their advantage as Wolfgang and Mark Coffey dominated the in-ring action while Joe Coffey ran interference on the outside. British Strongstyle proved to be too much as their tandem offense planted Coffey and gave them the win, only for Gallus to attack them after the match. That attack prompted Butch’s Brawling Brute teammate Ridge Holland to return to Nxt and save his companions from the savage beatdown.

For Led Zeppelin, the music tended to be more important than the lyrics. Need proof? Only one album came with a lyric sheet. At the same time, Zep’s tunes would have been supremely boring without Robert Plant’s vocals. These are the five Led Zeppelin songs with dirty lyrics.
(l-r) Led Zeppelin members John Paul Jones, Robert Plant, John Bonham (behind drum kit), and Jimmy Page | Michael Putland/Getty Images Robert Plant’s lyrics developed during his Led Zeppelin career
Before we get to the Zep songs with dirty lyrics, we must acknowledge how far Plant came with his writing while in the band.
He turned 20 years old soon after Led Zeppelin formed. Suddenly, he was performing with two professional musicians in Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones (plus one of the greatest drummers ever in John Bonham). Before that, his only experience in working bands came in some barely notable regional groups.

After their meeting in Rebellion’s Hardcore War, Masha Slamovich and Killer Kelly renew hostilities tonight! Kelly hits a delayed Fisherman’s suplex for two. Slamovich rolls to the outside and goads Kelly in as she drops her on the hardest part of the ring. Back in the ring, Slamovich connects with a running boot in the corner. Slamovich bites Kelly while doing damage with a submission. Kelly delivers a series of headbutts, then hits a double under-hook suplex into the corner. Kell almost puts her away with a German suplex into a bridge.

Firefly Lane is a series created by Maggie Friedman starring Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke.
Well, all good things must come to an end, so, unfortunately, here we have the last episodes of the second season of this sentimental series, which mixes friendship, life and… what is left when it is over.
Firefly Lane (2022)
Perhaps too much telefilm, perhaps too sentimental, but, undoubtedly, Firefly Lane has managed to win a place among the sappiest and straight-to-the-heart film lovers.
As a critic once said, despite everything, we will miss them.
Do you know that even a broken clock strikes twice a day? This gentleman was absolutely right.
We will miss them.
Enjoy the ending.
Tears are guaranteed.

Wish You Were Here
Trying times bring Kate and Tully together as they contend with an overbearing grandma, a pesky new intern and an ex-husband in distress.

This article contains Major spoilers for all seven seasons of New Girl
Let’s clear something up straight away: there are no bad episodes of New Girl.
In fact, this list could easily have started with the pilot and moved right on through to the incredibly moving season seven finale.
New Girl is one of those rare sitcoms you fall in love with from its first moments. The combination of unapologetically quirky, original writing, and the comic chemistry of the main cast – Max Greenfield as Schmidt, Jake Johnson as Nick, Hannah Simone as Cece, Lamorne Morris as Winston, Dayman Wayans Jr as Coach, and of course Zooey Deschanel as Jess – makes it a lovable and rewatchable hit.
Here are what we believe – after much soul searching – are New Girl’s 20 best episodes (plus a few honorable mentions):
20. What About Fred?

Movie star John Wayne developed a strong understanding of what audiences wanted to see from him in the roles that he chose. However, he also kept a finger on the pulse of the type of films that his peers starred in, and he certainly wasn’t afraid to speak his mind about them. Wayne didn’t care for a Gary Cooper movie that he called a “mockery of America’s highest award for valor.”
John Wayne prioritized movie morals John Wayne | Michael Ochs Archives/Getty Images
Wayne held the belief that the movie industry should be a “family business” of sorts. He detested the notion of a ratings system that allowed adult feature films with extreme violence and sexuality to hit silver screens to rely on human curiosity to make money.
The Oscar-winning actor refused to accept notable roles in movies such as High Noon and Blazing Saddles because of their morals.

In our Q&a series Last Call, we get down to the bottom of every last thing with some of our favorite celebs - from the last time they were starstruck to the last song they listened to. This week, "Bmf" actor Chester "Tre" Rogers takes our call.
NFL player Chester "Tre" Rogers knows he's doing the impossible with his recurring role on Starz's "Bmf." Last year, the 29-year-old Cleveland Browns wide receiver landed himself a part in the hit true crime drama, which returned for its second season on Jan. 6, as Sterling "Sterl" Black - head of the PAs (a local Detroit gang) and an ally to Bmf. Rogers made his show debut in episode 203, "Devil's Night," and he says viewers will see a lot more of his character in season two as his and Meech's (Demetrius "Lil Meech" Flenory Jr.) relationship "becomes an intricate one throughout the show.

Exclusive: Oscar-winning Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar will not be making his first English-language feature directorial debut with A Manual for Cleaning Women, which has Cate Blanchett set to star and produce under her Dirty Films, Deadline has learned.
The filmmaker finally had all the elements to realize the magnitude of this future production. However, he came to the decision that he’s not ready to tackle such a monumental project in English. A search for another director is underway.
The feature project was first announced back in January based on Lucia Berlin’s 43-part collection of short stories, examining the lives of women working a wide variety of demanding jobs.
“It has been a very painful decision for me,” Almodóvar tells Deadline. “I have dreamt of working with Cate for such a long time. Dirty Films has been so generous with me this whole time and I was blinded by excitement,...

Clint Eastwood’s “Dirty Harry” series of films are some of the most iconic American action movies ever made. Spanning two decades and five films, the “Dirty Harry” franchise looks at America’s changing attitude toward law enforcement and justice.
The first film, “Dirty Harry,” was released in 1971 and was an instant classic, spawning four sequels over the next two decades. While each film is excellent in its own right, there is a clear progression in how America is depicted, from a place of hope and optimism in the first film to a much more cynical and jaded outlook by the fifth film.
The story of all the movies revolves around a San Francisco Police Department inspector, “Dirty” Harry Callahan, played by Clint Eastwood. If you are a fan of action-packed cinema, you should watch “Dirty Harry” movies.

Warner Bros Discovery left Spain out of its clampdown on European original programs for HBO Max, and has now doubled down on the country by ordering a soccer comedy there.
Production is underway in Madrid on Playing Dirty (Monos con Pistola) The seven-part series comes from Jorge Valdano Sáenz and Pablo Tébar and is based on an idea from Carolina Bang and Álex de la Iglesia, whose drama 30 Coins is one HBO Max Europe’s most high-profile originals. The series is produced by Bang and de la Iglesia’s Pokeepsie Films, which is part of Banijay Iberia.
Playing Dirty follows the life of soccer agent Alberto Martín Ruiz, otherwise known as ‘Beto,’ as he leaves the comfortable life of working at a large soccer agency to go it alone and start his own venture. Exclusive: QCode, the podcast company formed by former CAA agent Rob Herting, is moving into unscripted audio series.
The company has previously focused on scripted stories such as Blackout with Rami Malek and Dirty Diana with Demi Moore but is now expanding its slate to include a slew of entertainment series. These include Tooth and Claw, Crime Scene Queens, Jillian on Love, The Afternoon Special and an untitled monster comedy improv show.
Tooth and Claw features true stories of the most extreme wild animal attacks ever documented, told and explained by Wes Larson, a wildlife biologist and animal behavior expert. Larson is joined by his brother Jeff and friend Mike to discuss these encounters.
Crime Scene Queens, hosted by forensic experts Laura and Shelly, dives into the science of true-crime obsession. The pair are looking to “curb the CSI effect” and explain what really goes down at the scene of a crime.

A modern audience member cannot watch Don Siegel's 1971 cop drama "Dirty Harry" without first being made aware of its politics. The landmark Supreme Court case Miranda v. Arizona had been decided five years earlier, granting certain rights to people in police custody. While the measure protected people from being unduly coerced into confessions by the cops -- they had the right to remain silent, and to have an attorney present prior to police questioning -- many at the time objected to Miranda rights, arguing that cops now had less recourse to apprehend and imprison suspects.

Guess who’s back reviewing WWE Raw? Nerdly that’s who! Yes, we’re getting back into regularly reviewing the WWE’s flagship show going forward. Hopefully watching and enjoying and not hate-watching though! So far it’s been a little… mixed. Let’s see what’s happening this week.

As film festivals pivot to the ever-shifting landscape of distribution and sales, the way we consume independent film is changing more dramatically than anyone could have predicted. Audiences can now experience a wider variety of films online, opening a world of possibilities that will hopefully benefit smaller films. With any luck, the new reality will broaden movie lovers’ horizons enough to include short films, which U.S. audiences can be reluctant to embrace. Most filmmakers begin to craft their voices with shorts, and given the significance of making a strong first impression, the format encourages creative risks. What’s more, younger and emerging filmmakers naturally have a finger on the pulse of more progressive ideas, ensuring a broader range of perspectives.

Jonathan Krisel was executive producer of “Baskets,” starring Louie Anderson, which aired on FX from 2016-19. Anderson, who died at age 68 on Jan. 21, won an Emmy for his performance as Christine on the show, which also starred Zach Galifianakis.
Louie bought the entire crew Arby’s one night. He had already filmed his scenes for the day, but he wanted to spoil us. He even brought the manager from the Arby’s to help pass out all the food. He was just like that.
He knew everyone on the crew so well. When we’d be setting up a shot and the cinematographer and I would be discussing if we wanted the shot “dirty” — meaning in a close-up you see a piece of the off-camera actor — if Louie heard that, he’d immediately start singing “Ridin’ Dirty” by Nelly. It was like clockwork, and it was always extremely loud and somehow always funny.

It’s fitting that drinking got Kid into trouble at the start of Netflix’s True Story, because it was drinking that ultimately led him to the truth in the limited series’ intense finale.
After seeing a very alive Simone/Daphne on an inebriated Carlton’s phone, Kid figured out the truth: His older brother had set him up. Kid then reached out to their mutual friend Julian, who works for the police department, to find out where Daphne lived. He needed to make sure she was indeed the same woman. He staked out her apartment, and old girl was definitely among the living.
