This is a beautiful offering, historical in nature. The bi-centennial of the birth of Father Serra who celebrated his first mass at Santa Barbara Mission, when California was a Spanish colony. It is impressive. The religious rites introduced are incidental to the dramatic story. The picture was made on the grounds and the interior views of the "Hermita" the mission church, are shown. The photography is beautifully done and the acting dignified. This is a splendid picture. - The Moving Picture World, April 4, 1914
