The AFI may have snubbed her so far by omitting her from their list of the 25 greatest actresses, but at least PREMIERE magazine has shown the good common sense to inaugurate a "Legend Award" and bestow it on none other than OLIVIA de HAVILLAND for her body of film work.
Olivia receives the award from Jennifer Connolly after a generous showing of film clips from some of her most famous films. Easy to spot is the genuine affection of the audience studded with other legendary performers and a number of enthusiastic wanna-bees.
Olivia makes a speech with a humorous slant, declaring that when it's time for her to enter "the pearly gates" (if indeed headed in that direction), she can testify that in the year 2004 she was declared a "legend" by Premiere magazine--and that should gain her entry. She mentions Bette Davis as possibly being the gate-keeper. It drew the expected amount of laughter and applause.
